An evening wandering round NYC, 5 years ago today, pre Covid etc, I stumbled upon the 55 jazz bar in town, where none other than legendary Jazz rock guitarist Mike Stern (Blood Sweat & Tears, Billy Cobham, Miles Davis etc) was playing his weekly gig with his killer band.

5 years later, the 55 is no more I hear, after closing during the pandemic (May 2022) ... It was est. in 1919 so made it past 100 years but fell casualty to the effects of the lockdowns. Tragic, but here's some sounds to keep it alive in spirit at least... This was a boss night, recorded on a Sony xz1 phone, it ain't sound desk quality, but is a sound reflection of vibes etc. The music meanders between melt your face off jazz, pure street jazz groove, funk and a beautiful melodic jazz fusion thing to finish up.
