 Over time I discovered that perfection is the best thing I can do at the moment, with the resources I have available, and the most important thing: the enjoyment of the process. This is the second music I have produced at home with Ableton Live, vocals and instruments. Between this and the first there is a huge leap, quantum I would say. Here I am still in my self-teaching process, pressing buttons and learning every day. And how happy I am, with this perfect imperfection.

 Con el tiempo fui descubriendo que la  perfección es lo mejor que puedo hacer en el momento, con los recursos que tengo disponibles, y lo más importante: el goce del proceso.  Esta es la segunda música que produzco en casa con el Ableton Live, voz e instrumentos. Entre esta y la primera hay un salto enorme, cuántico diría yo. Aquí sigo en mi proceso auto didacta, tocando botones y aprendiendo cada día.  Y que feliz Soy, con esta perfecta imperfección.

The inspiration for this track was the netflix documentary My Octopus Teacher. I have always identified with this fascinating and misunderstood animal from the depths but, until watching the documentary, wasn't aware of the extent of their genius nor of their nobility. They are lone animals, extremely shy, elusive and mysterious, but give them a chance and they will form bonds of trust, friendship and playfulness.



After being awe-struck and incredibly moved by the realisations explored in the documentary, I created the Octopus Flow with the purpose of facilitating one's connection to the octopus as a spirit animal. To both empathise with their frailty and the challenges they face in this anthropocentric world (as they themselves, along with their habitats, are increasingly commodified and destroyed) as well as embody the powerful traits of these highly intelligent, metamorphic, dexterous, decentralised, strategic, mysterious creatures.

Pássaro present their second release “Antes de existir o Mundo” (Before the world existed): five original tracks plus two remixes by Shika Shika co-founder El Búho and Brazilian underground legend Psilosamples. “Antes de Existir o mundo” is a slow and sweet musical trip inspired by nature, landscapes and birdsongs from Brazil. In this album, produced over the last three years, Pássaro speak about the last instant before the world came into existence, the creation of the first life and the first sounds.

Pássaro is a trio from Brazil composed by Irû Waves, Ygor Marotta & Tomás Xavier. They have been exploring this collective way of composing music together since 2019, inspired by hundreds of jam sessions and by the psychedelic landscapes of Brazil’s nature.

This was the last collaboration Daniel and I did together and today it is seeing the light of day, just as his body has left this beautiful earth.
Today, he left this world, but his Spirit is flying free and since the title of the song is called "Arriving", I feel it makes sence to welcome him into the spiritual realm in this way, so that we remember his magic, his musical genius, his childlike joy and innocence, and his spontaneous crazy self which brought me to ecstatic laughter many times. I will miss you Daniel. I am happy we got to create this before you left. May your Spirit live on in the Ecstatic Joy of your Music.

"This podcast is a recording of a Sunset Cacao Dance Session at Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.
Our dear friend Mose who is also a DJ and producer created this event which takes places at Eagle's Nest,  a Yoga- and Retreat-Center in the mountains of San Marcos with a spectacular view over the lake and its volcanos. The event was created with the intention to allow people to have a deep journey within and explore the depths and wonders of their inner landscapes guided by music and supported by the medicine of Cacao. Cacao Ceremonies are deeply rooted in the ancient mayan culture and have been facilitated for thousands of years to strenghten the connection with nature, to celebrate and enjoy life and to recieve guidance and healing from the medicine plant. More and more people nowadays (re)discover the physical and metaphysical benefits of raw cacao and honour it for its heart-opening, energizing and healing effects. Since we also work with this sacred medicine we were really excited to discover that for the spiritual community of San Marcos raw cacao is an essential part of their gathreings and co-creations. So thanks to our connection with cacao and our friendship with Mose we were invited to play at and co-create this magical event and take people into a space self-exploration and self-expression. It was amazing to see and feel the vortex of love, excitement and healing that has been co-created within this 3 h dance journey and we are deeply grateful to have played a part in this. In this Set we are supported by Ben Harris aka Yemanjo on his Trumpet and by Zendrik van der Merwe with his beautiful flutes. We hope the listeners will have similiar experiences and can enjoy and tune into the love-frequencies and celebrate the miracle of beeing alive at this magical times on this wonderful planet."

"Ramas" (branches in Spanish) is El Búho’s third album of original material and stands for a celebration of the art of collaboration. Featuring 19 collaborations with artists from 12 countries, the album was born organically out of collaborations, mutual appreciation or a desire to experiment and try something new. 

Some of the tracks were started in person, such as "Sky City", born out of a spaghetti-western jam in Thornato’s Queens studio or "Gaviota" inspired by the the seagulls of Brighton following a shared show with Rumbo Tumba in the city. Meanwhile others such as "Elefta" with Hungarian producer Stas or "Kuuma" a track made with Finnish multi-instrumentalist QOSQI were created over long-distance with the producers never actually meeting face to face. The album also contains tracks from long-term friends and collaborators like Chancha Via Circuito, Barda and Wonderwheel head-honcho Nickodemus. 

Musically the album references the blend of Latin American traditional music with original electronic music on tracks such as "Resiliencia" with legendary Chilean producer DJ Raff, an homage to the recent protest movement in Chile, or "Absolut," a track sculpted from an unfinished melodic idea by Argentine electro-folk trio Tremor. Meanwhile songs like "Nevar" and "Kif Kif Kuf Kuf" with Didacte and Kraut, both part of the Shika Shika collective, take El Búho’s sound in a new direction, embracing a more melodic or impactful and rhythmic electronica. 

At its heart of "Ramas" was Perkins’ desire to challenge himself creatively, forcing him to see his own ideas and production style from a different angle or see ideas started in one direction come back completely transformed by the collaborator. The result is at once surprising and diverse but El Búho’s signature sound and aesthetic is the thread that runs through all of the tracks, the trunk to each branch. 

Carrying on the spirit of collaboration, El Búho made an open call for collaborations with dancers & choreographers in his community. Overwhelmed by the response, the album is accompanied by 18 original choreographies by dancers and dance groups from 12 different countries, from Mexico to Taiwan, South Africa or the Galapagos Islands. Each chose the track that most inspired them and shot a video of their dance in a unique and beautiful natural location, in doing so creating yet more ramas or branches for the project.
