Merlin Bobb, New York native and celebrated DJ, producer, and music executive is widely recognized as a pioneer of house music. His groundbreaking contributions continue to earn acclaim, including his highly anticipated Boiler Room debut DJ set in 2023.

Merlin’s career began on the airwaves with his first mix show on WBLS, where he quickly became a favorite among dance music fans. His show became a landmark for introducing early Chicago, New York, and New Jersey house music to a wider audience. Constantly pushing boundaries with new sounds and techniques, Merlin helped redefine the art of DJing and laid the foundation for a remarkable career in music.

Beyond the decks, Merlin shaped the direction of house and dance music as an executive at Atlantic and Elektra Records. He was instrumental in bringing house into the mainstream while collaborating with and championing legends like Frankie Knuckles, Timmy Regisford, Roger Sanchez, Kerri Chandler, David Morales, Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, and DJ Spinna. At the same time, he worked with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B—Missy Elliott, Brandy, Busta Rhymes, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Outkast, Dr. Dre, and more during his tenure as Senior Vice President of A&R.

Merlin also helped shape New York nightlife as co-founder of Club Shelter in 1991, a cultural institution whose influence continues to resonate across global club culture today.

Now, after years behind the scenes, Merlin has returned to DJing and producing, reigniting his connection with longtime fans and reaffirming his role as a vital force in the house music movement.

Born in Naples in 1978 and at a young age he knew passion was minimal. At the age of 12 he began to collect the jewels out of house Roland, as the Drum machine was his obsession. By the age of 14 he began playing live in the hottest clubs of his area. He gives off a powerful flow while he plays the 3 turntables. By the year 2000 he creates the Love to Love Group, Emilove being the founder. By organizing big parties in his sphere of influence, he involves all to gather and feel the new Emilove experience, full of new flows and styles which will higher the musical awareness of all who participate..

Fell in love with house music back in the 90's hearing Louie Vega, Kerri Chandler, Frankie Knuckless, Ron Trent and many more artists from that time, who left huge impact on me as a Dj. Deep & Soulful is my way of expression. 

Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere. That’s how most describe Dj Popo. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on a combination of Hip Hop, Caribbean, Reggaeton, R&B, and more PoPo is not deemed a scratch master for no reason. Popo’s set over time became infused with his own love for both hip-hop and hard-hitting mixes and blends. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling sounds. There’s has not been a day that music hasn’t dominated Popo’s daily life.
 
Born in Brooklyn, New York, with a Panamanian background, you know the catalog of such Dj would be eclectic in range and genres. Many may not know that from a toddler Dj Popo was spinning records. Things started with his Dad giving him a rotation of music to learn. Learning the perfect breaks in records started with Alicia Myers and Mary J. Not knowing yet, what the records meant, he found out at a young age to blend, scratch and mix at a very young age. 

There’s no limit to what you may end up jamming out to when at a Popo party. He will take the most old school impossible record and mix it with a new school track, no other Dj would try. Can thank the different cultures that makeup Dj Popo. Spending his young life all the way up to current, diverse music will keep you wanting to only attend Dj Popo’s parties. Every Dj has its own style. Being well versed in music from your parent’s music, all the way up to the current top charters, you can hear him playing on the 957 Jamz Radio (Alabama).
 
A very active member of the music scene, Popo is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of a small-town music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a drummer, Dj, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically. He also likes to post original content with original mixes on social media, @Djpopo01– here the Scratch Master is dedicated to helping others become better familiar with his skills. You can see and hear his passion, through each mix.
