Kestrels are dependent on populations of mice and voles and need to eat several a day to survive. As humans expand farmland, voles are driven out of their usual homes which has a knock-on effect for kestrels. Currently the number one cause of kestrel deaths is starvation. Keeping the food chain balanced is vital for keeping cool characters like kestrels in our skies."
