I remember you played this on your podcast for Turbo a long time ago. That episode was my introduction to Skatebard

Wandering through the outback he was aware of his own bitter loneliness, there wasn't much out here but for the occasional ramshackle old house and the desert sands. His only companion? A crazy ass bronco with a mind all of his own and a wild kick. The sun beamed down upon them both as they marched and trudged through the abyss in the hope of finding a beautiful mirage, a vision of a waterfall or the great rains. This was the only hope the pair had left in hell...

t-woc is a producer from Dublin, he has recorded a stellar six track record for Strangelove, a mixture of oddball bashment and dub with playful experimentation dotted throughout. Strangelove is a label of which we are very fond and this is the latest in their excellent pursuit to enlighten us all.

Never underestimate the power of a good bassline. Mark du Mosch certainly doesn’t. This veteran from the harbor city of Rotterdam let’s his vicious bass line creep up on you from behind on 202 AC Ra. A dark and jacking club belter with clear Chicago roots. The five track EP The Heavens may be his debut on SoHaSo, Du Mosch has been releasing music for over fourteen years on a variety of respected underground labels, such as Moustache, Dekmantel and Royal Oak.

His versatile style draws on sounds that evoke strong mental imagery and a sense of eternity, which clearly shows on the introspective Resonance Delay (She) on the B-side. In which a melancholic melody is supported by muffled slow motion beats.

The beautiful artwork on The Heavens EP is by Joost Stokhof, an Amsterdam based graphic designer who is known for his love for detail. Which makes him perfectly suited for Du Mosch’ subtle and well crafted dance tunes.

In a normal world you would open your EP with the title track. Du Mosch chooses to close with it. The Heavens stays true to it’s name. A harp like melody that washes ashore as foam from a greyblue Northsea that calmed down after the storm. Heaven indeed.

LER 1022/MS03 - LITIA=LOE’s Each Dawn Every Dawn

A nearly-lost existential house anthem from Chicago’s second generation, heavily under the influence of Ron Hardy, European EBM, and the struggle of daily life in the city’s marginalised neighbourhoods.
LITIA=LOE (Life In The Insane Asylum = Life On Earth) formed in Chicago amidst the burgeoning house movement of the 80’s. 

Leon Williams, Daryl Wilson, and brothers Grant and Simeon Rogers would meet up every weekend to soak up the sounds at local clubs like Music Box, Medusa, The Power Plant, The Warehouse, and Frankie Knuckles’ Dance Palace, where DJs would mix everything from disco to new wave, industrial to house music. After the clubs closed, they would retreat to Leon’s basement to experiment with synths, inspired by what they had just witnessed at the clubs.

At the time, the record barely made it out of Chicago, but the group did have a chance at notoriety. Rocky Jones of D.J. International Records offered up a “Blood contract” for joining the label. The group declined and the group remained a mystery.

More than 30 years later Each Dawn Every Dawn will finally be available again (no blood contracts needed). Due out though Left Ear records and Mixed Signals,  on the 27th of March 2020. Distro through Rushhour, Seance Centre or Direct in the Antipodes

Bård Aasen Lødemel, aka Skatebård, got into techno and rave during the '90s before he became a producer of retro-futuristic disco, house, and techno. 
Hailing from a town called Ørsta on the Norwegian west coast, Lødemel moved to Bergen in the year 2000, where he quickly became part of the town's growing club scene. 
After handing over a homemade demo to Tellé Records label boss Mikal Telle, Lødemel was signed to offshoot label Tellektro in 2001. 
His first release under the name of Skatebård, a concise vinyl-only album called Skateboarding Was a Crime (In 1989), was released in 2002, and slowly but surely Skatebård's reputation started spreading beyond Norway's borders. 
Throughout his impressive career of releasing five albums and more than twenty 12-inches, he has steadily carved out his own corner of dance music with a unique flair. Traversing a range of seemingly disparate genres and emotions comes incredibly naturally to the Norwegian artist, whose music oscillates between Italo disco and raw Detroit infused house and techno. With an enviably eclectic collection of the mastery to navigate it seamlessly, Skatebård’s DJ sets offer exploratory excursions through the unknown and unexpected. From festival mainstages to intimate clubnights, Boiler Rooms and radio shows, Skatebård has captivated audiences across the globe, performing at many of electronic music’s most revered institutions.
The dynamic scope of Skatebård’s artistry extends to his work in the studio.
