Swiss duo Psycho Weazel are back on Iptamenos Discos, this time with their very own EP ‘Mains d’argile’ which has a range of sounds from new wave, indie dance, italo disco and house and features Curses, Local Suicide, as well as remixes from Marvin & Guy and Rafael Cerato.

The duo’s musical love story began at summer camp, where the two Swiss born musicians shared their playlists with one another. Sharing playlists led to sharing dreams, and so Psycho Weazel was born. A retro-futuristic electronic spectacle, their music blends indie-dance, cold wave and EBM. From their studio on the shore of Lake Neuchâtel, they have created an impressive catalogue of elegant and joyful dance music. Such infectious tracks can be heard lighting up dancefloors across the globe - ‘Mains d’argile' will be no exception.

The EP opens with title track 'Mains d’argile’, which features New York born, Berlin based artist Curses, who is hot off the heels of the Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX compilation he curated. Psycho Weazel describe the single: ‘a hymn to disappearance that turns into medicine for damaged partygoers’. The track is certainly godly with its transcendent intro - long, echoing and expansive, it sprays the listener with melancholic dew and then drops into somewhere present, with tight drums and a strong synth melody, guided by Curses' haunting vocal. Layers of sounds that are both grounded and soaring, bridging the gap between heaven and earth. The track ends with a wailing lead guitar, whose tone embodies a sense of longing and escapism.

The court looked so peaceful beneath the gaze of the floodlights. Off the back of the first Mainframe single I was asked by Junior to remix Pete Heller's Stylus Trouble "Sputnik", already a colossal record so it was a touch on the intimidating side if I'm honest. Don't remember much about doing it except it was the first time I used my top secret plug-in on a track. I'd been thinking it would be groovy to have an effect that chopped up sound in the same way that a spun coin sounds as it starts to slow down and falls on the table - a sudden rush of shorter and shorter repeats that get incredibly fast then stop. I took a bit of a blaggers chance and mentioned this to one of the coders at Cycling 74 and he quickly wrote me a very simple dirty plug-in that did just that job. It was hammered on a lot of KU afterwards but it got its first outing in the drop of the "Sputnik (Mainframe Dub)". I also remember Matthew going to see Sasha at Cream and coming back to tell me that a) Sasha had played the dub and b) the place had gone fucking nuts. Exciting stuff :)

Bård Aasen Lødemel, aka Skatebård, got into techno and rave during the '90s before he became a producer of retro-futuristic disco, house, and techno. 
Hailing from a town called Ørsta on the Norwegian west coast, Lødemel moved to Bergen in the year 2000, where he quickly became part of the town's growing club scene. 
After handing over a homemade demo to Tellé Records label boss Mikal Telle, Lødemel was signed to offshoot label Tellektro in 2001. 
His first release under the name of Skatebård, a concise vinyl-only album called Skateboarding Was a Crime (In 1989), was released in 2002, and slowly but surely Skatebård's reputation started spreading beyond Norway's borders. 
Throughout his impressive career of releasing five albums and more than twenty 12-inches, he has steadily carved out his own corner of dance music with a unique flair. Traversing a range of seemingly disparate genres and emotions comes incredibly naturally to the Norwegian artist, whose music oscillates between Italo disco and raw Detroit infused house and techno. With an enviably eclectic collection of the mastery to navigate it seamlessly, Skatebård’s DJ sets offer exploratory excursions through the unknown and unexpected. From festival mainstages to intimate clubnights, Boiler Rooms and radio shows, Skatebård has captivated audiences across the globe, performing at many of electronic music’s most revered institutions.
The dynamic scope of Skatebård’s artistry extends to his work in the studio. Spanning over two decades, his impressive discography is dispersed across labels including his own Digitalo Enterprises, Sex Tags Mania and Bordello A Parigi. With a knack for balancing kitsch with elegance, Skatebård creates music that exudes an air of nonchalant fun.
