The Green Magic Place is dedicated to our Mother, Karen Lowens, who departed from this world on 29 October, Srila Prabhupada's disappearance day, during the month of Kartik, 2011.

These words were written by her to describe her "Green Magic Place":


For now, I am quiet, strolling down memory lane, and in love with life. 

When I imagine that stroll, I have a real place in mind. I wander down the path to the pond in Belfast Maine where all is silent except for the occasional mosquito buzz, fish fin flap, kingfisher squawk and swoop. Then I get into one of the blow-up boats and just float silently. I see  part of a tree floating by and it's a muskrat, carrying a branch to its home. Occasionally I'll see a mink doing the same. As I float along the shore of the pond, I see huge pawprints and flat areas where a beaver's tail might fit perfectly. At that space, I call it my green magic place. I let my mind roam freely. Remembering all my dear friends of the past, of the present, and still to come.


The Green Magic Place

Raga Asa is an Indian musical raga (composition) that appears in the Sikh tradition from northern India and is part of the Sikh holy scripture the Guru Granth Sahib. Asa is a very old raga which was once popular in the Punjab (northern India) but seldom heard in concerts today. In the Guru Granth Sahib's Ragmala this is a ragini (subset) of raga Megha. However, today it is assigned to the "Bilaval" thata ("set"). Asa is a devotional raga for the cold season and is performed in the early morning just before sunrise. However, it is also known as a twilight melody with a calm mystical mood. Raga Asa was used by Dhanul Laskangadas, Guru Nanak, Guru Angad, Guru Amar Das, Guru Ram Das, Guru Arjan and Guru Tegh Bahadur

Gita Banning: Krishna’s side of the story
 
In the backdrop of the present sad controversy over the banning of the Bhagavad-gita in Russia, we present Lord Krishna’s side of the story. His take on the controversy is presented as a song based on poetic translations of four important Gita verses that express its message of love. The song comprises a chorus English verse and English renditions of those four verses followed by their Sanskrit originals.

All beings are my children beloved, the seed of life, I give to all,
Hindus, Muslims, Christians, humans, animals and plants, I love them all

On December 19, 2011, Hare Krishna devotees in Kolkata, India, protested in front of the Russian Embassy because of the proposed Ban of Bhagavad Gita in Russia.

We received a letter of thanks from the devotees in Russian.

Yet, we wonder how Lord Krishna feels about the proposed Ban of His song of love, the Bhagavad Gita.

A Life Dedicated to Spiritual Service and Kirtan
Sri Krishna Chaitanya Swami, born in New York City, USA, in 1965, has become a pivotal figure in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), particularly in kirtan and Padayatra. His life’s journey, from a musically gifted youth to a spiritual leader, exemplifies dedication to the path of bhakti yoga and the spreading of Krishna consciousness worldwide.
Early Life and Spiritual Journey
Born in the same year that ISKCON Founder Acarya, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, arrived in New York, Sri Krishna Chaitanya Swami’s connection to the Hare Krishna movement began early. His aunt attended Srila Prabhupada’s kirtans in Tompkins Square Park 1966, planting the seeds of his future spiritual path.
Raised in an affluent family that valued education and the arts, he developed exceptional musical skills from a young age. By the time he entered Berklee College of Music in 1982, he had mastered sixteen instruments. After graduating in 1987 with a degree in Recording Engineering and Production, he embarked on a journey as a professional musician and a spiritual seeker.
 
Dedication to ISKCON
This year marks Sri Krishna Chaitanya Swami’s 32nd anniversary in ISKCON. His formal journey began in 1991 when he joined the movement in Ireland. Two years later, His Holiness Lokanath Swami initiated him, naming him Ekalavya Das. His dedication and service led to his acceptance of the sannyasa order in Pandharpur, elevating him to Sri Krishna Chaitanya Swami.

Leadership in Kirtan and Padayatra
Sri Krishna Chaitanya Swami’s most significant contributions to ISKCON lie in his roles as the GBC Kirtan Minister and GBC Padayatra Minister, positions he was elected to in 2023. These roles reflect his deep commitment to spreading the holy names of Krishna and promoting pilgrimage as a form of spiritual practice.
 
As Kirtan Minister:
Coordinates ISKCON’s Annual International World Holy Name Festival, a role he has fulfilled for 25 years.
