We have always been massive fans of Shirley Ellis, so this cover was a no brainer. Although we recorded it in 2001 under the name "Da Muttz", it wasn’t until subsequent mixes in 2003 that this track made it out onto vinyl to become one of our best selling EPs to date.

A fusion of all our musical loves.. A bit of Breaks, bit of hip hop, some lounge, a little bit of soul and of course a little sprinkling of silly. This track was originally written for konami's "Beatmania" - the original PlayStation DJ simulation game.  We mixed a lot of the other tracks on that game for Konami too.. Regardless.. we were totally rubbish at the game. How does that work?

This track also made it onto another playstation game (SSX) a Kelloggs commercial and a Hollywood movie (although I forget which one)

What can anyone say about Lou Reed that hasn’t been said a thousand times over? His death really saddened me. I knew he had been ill, but Lou seemed one destined to live forever. Before he’d ever ingested copious amounts of speed and booze, he was a survivor of teenage electroshock therapy and became what Michael Stipe has called “the first queer icon of the 21st century.” I imagine his parents were mortified when they heard his lyrics, read his interviews, and saw pictures of him with his transsexual muse, Rachel, in the mid-70s, and realized how badly they failed to “cure” their son of his bisexuality with electroconvulsive torture. People say Lou Reed wrote about “forbidden” subjects, but people have forgotten or don’t realize that Lou Reed wrote about real lives – lives lived by himself and by those he knew. It wasn’t always pretty, but it was often honest, and always interesting. - Kent Burt

Being quite proud of the body of original Ghetto Funk tunes we’ve released to date, we’ve thrown open our own vaults to some of our in-house producers to have their wicked way with us. The results are astounding…it certainly takes the breath away!

Recorded way back in 1998. Unlike many other collaborations with CDRs and DAT tapes, Marvin actually flew over from the states to spend a couple of days recording with us at our Holloway road studios. You can imagine, as long life long fans, It was an absolute honour to the have the undisputed king of hip hop grace our studios. Big Ups Marvin!

Sadly this record was never released back then due to the "T" Word. Kind of a waste to let quality old school go to waste.. so better late than never... Go fill yer boots!
