Amon Tobin occupies a peculiar position in the dance music firmament – a point where the gravitational forces of IDM, EDM, D’n’B and rather more hipster-friendly bass music balance one another out. He’s got every bit the production finesse, and often the weirdness, of WARP luminaries, he can also make some very deep and dark basement-friendly tunes – yet he is something of a rave superstar in the USA, and for The Six Rhythms EP he’s on Dutch loudness-warriors Noisia’s label Division. His Two Fingers guise was originally created for tracks with UK MC Sway, but it’s now an instrumental project. We won’t lie, the other tracks on this EP slide a bit far into stadium rave territory for us, but this one – a healthy dose of body-rocking warehouse electro – does the business and then some. It’s out on 22nd June – you can preorder on the Division site or iTunes.

Every holiday season brings back the annual challenge of finding good quality and funky holiday songs to play. Its always been hard to share the season's greetings and get those booties on the dancefloor at the same time. And that is exactly why Fort Knox Five and K+Lab have decided to remint their smash hit “Jinglin' Janglin'”, and are releasing a special holiday version Jingling Bells Mix. 

FK5 and K+Lab had such a great time working together on the first DC to BC collaboration, and the resulting Jinglin' Janglin' tune has been a big hit. All of that heavy bass and funky breaks from the original are still there, with a healthy serving of sleigh bells, xylophone and festive percussion added throughout. The result is a funky Noel anthem with Baby Bam's call to Rewind it back, just listen to the track even more important during the hectic year end holidays.

Other participants such as Freak Power’s Ashley Slater (via his Kitten And The Hip project) and piano genius Dan Hewson make this a record of such caliber that it plays out like this year’s prime crate digger compilation. I don’t know what I love more about “Would you Believe in Me” - the bit where Jon goes “uba-duba-duba-duba-duba”, or the bit where he goes “dee-burn-em d-d-de-de-de”. Not to mention the “durr-durr d-d-durr-durr-dum d-d-durr d-durr” bit.

I really can’t get enough of this trumped up little boombox bruiser which is why I had to extend it by 2:28 seconds. That way I could at least finish the dishes or make a cup of tea before telling Alexa to “play that brassy-ass beast again you sexy-as electro-fluzie please thank you”.
