S-capade got into the sound of hardcore jungle in the early nineties. Based on his background as an active drummer he supported DJ sets with the drums and then he became a DJ himself. He first played pirate Radio stations and then moved onto underground clubs. He is a promoter and resident at the legendary Massive Tunes @massivetunes_ac and Oxygen partys in Aachen, Germany.

Setting the levels this week is an artist with some unbelievable projects in the pipeline. A true drum & bass connoisseur whose ear for the PROPER headzy sounds is second to none. We’re telling you now he’s one to follow and keep an eye out for 👀 

Introducing @refine_music for our 18th entry to the SOLITUDE guest mix series 🔥 

He supplied us with an hour long moody mix, spinning plenty of new unreleased music along with some personal favourites. You’ve got nine tracks here that aren’t out yet, you know how we do! 🔊 

Barney Blackhurst aka Refine is the founder of @interlude-dnb, a diverse collective who push the real underground sounds, spanning from Blue Note era releases all the way to the deep, dark, futuristic and technical. They have hosted some icons in the past e.g @amoss, @rizzleuk, @tephra-arkoze and had @xtrah just last Friday at @fourquartersbar in Peckham to celebrate the launch of his new album “X” 

Refine has his debut EP dropping early next year on @sine-audio in collaboration with @minorformsuk as their new duo “Re:Form”. That one features riddims with @mc-fokus and @visionobi 🎤 

They’re also releasing on ProgRAM for @ramrecords in the near future. PLUS he’s got a track on dropping at the end of 2022 on @anttc1 with the legendary Fokus once more, as well as @the-medic-mc 

Believe us when we say this guy has the ideal mindset, workrate and humble attitude to become a very well respected name in drum & bass and beyond. We hope you enjoy the sounds of Refine for SOLITUDE 🦾
