Evitceles has managed to build an impressive musical discography, which spreads over a multitude of electronic genres and is released across the world by labels like Opal Tapes, Yerevan Tapes, AMEK Collective and Strange Therapy. His most recent album Velvet Room just came out in April on Opal Tapes.

This mix includes his own unreleased productions from the last couple of years with plenty of exclusive brand new pieces. Distorted guitars, heavy beats, deep atmospheres and vocals that recall post-industrial and post-punk.

The intention of this mix is to guide one down the path of introspection and exploration. This mix fluctuates between slow moving pieces and more club-centric sounds all in an effort to play around with what sounds we tend to deem as “meditative.” Some find zen alone in their bedroom, some find it surrounded by bodies on the dancefloor - I hope to balance these journeys as this mix moves between slow and fast, gentle and experimental, light and dark.

I moved to Naarm/Melbourne earlier this year and it has made me realise how unbelievably lucky I am to live here in “Australia”. From the natural landscapes of this country to the amount of gifted homies I come in contact with almost everyday, I’m in a constant state of awe. Artists like Zara, OK EG, Tangerine & Gi have me bursting at the seams with excitement for the sounds coming out of this place.

𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭?
Take Care was created in 2022, birthed from my new found love for gentle ambient/downtempo. A meditative mix (and later turned event) series focused around self and community care. It was made to be a sort of ‘digital destination’, a one-stop-shop of ambient soundscapes to help find stillness, cultivate growth and realign with what it means to be alive.

One that takes the cake right now would have to be a two day party called Absorbed. The line up was majority local/Aus talent and incredibly diverse in sound - yet it all flowed beautifully! From live acts to djs to bands, oh man I just had the best time!

This may be a bit clique, but my favourite experience so far would be NYE of 2023 at a dear homies house party. It was open decks and my friend Rilie and I ended up getting on and just playing the most ridiculous throwbacks, while our friend Rob got people to sing along on a mic we found. I started DJ’ing as a means to have fun with my homies and at that moment, it all came together in a beautiful celebration.
