Aap se milke hum, kuch badal say ga’ay
Shair parhnay lagay, gungunay lagay

Having met you, I have changed somewhat
I've started reciting poetry, humming to myself

Pehlay mashhoor thi, apni sanjeedgi 
Ub to jab daykhiyeah muskuranay lagay 

I was famous for my seriousness in the past
Nowadays, whenever people look, I'm seen smiling

Aap se milke hum, kuch badal say ga’ay
Shair parhnay lagay, gungunay lagay

Having met you, I have changed somewhat
I've started reciting poetry, humming to myself

Hum ko logon say milnay ka kab shouq tha 
Mehfil araii ka, kab hamay zouq tha 

When was I ever interested in socializing
When did I relish going to gatherings

Aap kay wastay hum nay yeh bhi kia 
Milnay-julnay lagay, aanay-jaanay lagay 

For you, I even did this
Started meeting people, and going places

Aap se milke hum, kuch badal say ga’ay
Sher parhnay lagay, gungunay lagay

Having met you, I have changed somewhat

Hum nay jab aap ki daykhe dilchaspiyaan
Aagayeen jab hum mein bhi tabdiliyaan 

When I came to see your interests
A few changes came upon me too

Ik musawwir say ho gayi dosti 
Aur ghazalein bhi sun’nay suna’nay lagay 

I struck a friendship with an artist
And started listening and reciting poetry too

Aap ke baray mein pooch baytha koi 
Kia kahein hum say kia bad-hawasi hui

Someone happened to ask about you
What can I say, what senselessness came over me

Kehnay wali jo thi, baat wo na kahi 
Baat jo thi chupani, batanay lagay 

I didn't speak of things I was supposed to
But revealed what was to be hidden

Aap se milke hum, kuch badal say ga’ay

Having met you, I have changed somewhat

Ishq beghar karay, ishq beghar karay 
Ishq ka such mein koi thikana nahin

Love leaves one homeless, love leaves one homeless 
Truly, love has no place to settle

 Hum jo kal tak thikanay kay thay aadmi 
Aap se milke kaisay thikanay lagay 

I, who till yesterday was so settled a man
Look how having met you have become unsettled
