DJ Gemzstar was born hungry and to set goals and smash through them. Born and raised in the streets of Flushing, Queens until the age of 14. His parents gave him an opportunity to move out the hood and come out to Long Island to better his future, but the hood never left Gemz. Sick of the stereotypical kids rocking Abercrombie & Fitch who grew up together in an upper-middle class town in Nassau, he stayed true to his roots, despite getting hated on for rocking Jordan's and those old school And One tees (you know the old school joints with the mean sayings like "ankle breaker").

Gemzstar watched the DMC championships to decide the best DeeJay worldwide every year, it was then after watching A-Trak at age 15, and DJ Q-Bert winning the title a consecutive 3 years in a row that the art of Turntablism was an art he wanted to be a part of. He saved, and hustled every dollar to buy his first pair of Numark turntables back in 1997. Hip hop and the essence of it's meaning was the motivation and inspiration from listening to the Notorious B.I.G. on his disc man while bagging groceries and collecting shopping carts at the local Shoprite.

After continuously perfecting the art of mixing, blending ,and scratching, senior year was just about over. He had dreams of going away to college and after a short stay, decided to come back home, but hip hop never left him. Getting him through the darkest days of his life. The main reason for his innovative style and different approach to DJing was because of the feeling it gave him to be able to rock crowds and see people flowing on the dance floor because of the mood he set on two turntables.

A big influence for his hot and creative club sets is DJ Gemzstar's experience learning and being mentored in audio engineering. Not that Gemzstar can master EQ and mix a professionally made record, but learning way in which to use technology (keyboards, sample machines, using 6 channel mixers.) While also being able to record TV and VHS audio into samples before the technology boom in the Music Industry.

Hip-hop, House, Top 40, R&B, Reggae, Classics, Latin, Rock, Remixes and innovative Blends, with a little DMC battle type of kick, became the art of his main sets for nightclubs. Gemzstar has held various MC's down during battles and showcases throughout Long Island. Long Island's legendary MC Skriptkeeper became a mentor and turned to Gemzstar as his go to DJ. Linking up with long time mentor and brother DJ Tracktion, Gemz landed a roll as co-host on strongisland.com's radio streaming show "Real Talk Live" with the amazingly talented and versatile M$ Cookie. Who not only is a huge radio personality and innovator, but a platinum recording artist in her day.

When record label camps were forming in the late 90's and early 2000's The Diplomats movement was his inspiration. WIth the new sound and fresh beats, combined with a flare of the true essence of Hip-Hop, Gemz became a Dipset fan for life, while being reffered to "White Juelz" for imitating his style of a young man on the come up with his "I don't give a damn, this is me, hate or love it, loyalty to his click and the game mentality" and fashion sense.

Now Gemzstar has branched out and becoming more and more hungry to collaborate with MC's all over and reinvent the mix tape game by "feeding the streets, with the lyrical talents that capture the essence in which hip hop was originated." RIght now Gemz is working on his first hosting and debuting Mixtape: New York Lyrical Massacre Volume One "From Manhattan to Montauk" capturing and working with MC's from the city all the way east on Strong Island to the tip of the 631.

Brooklyn born, Bronx raised & Queens native with a Usher like voice, Micheal Jackson vocal light air notes & a vocal David Ruffin attitude. Have been singing since the age of 7. Was seduced by The music of artist such as Babyface, Boyz 2 Men, BBD, Temptations, Marvin Gaye,New Edition, Micheal Jackson & Prince. Been writing since 12 yrs, I was captivated by the power of word expression & growningup I was raised to be a quiet, bashful kid. Use poetry, shakespeare, hi-kho & other forms of writing to get out the things I couldn't say. I'm from a small line of talent, my aunt is recording R&B artist Stephanie Mills who did the hit in the '90's called Superwoman. I myself have sang wit groups in the past called Intaface & Proof, which had breakout potential, as well as did a lil ghostwriting for Def Jam records & freelancing those same talents to help others. I've work on my own project with my partner @ the time Aaron Malandnado to help form Aroe Productions, these things were more of learn experiences as well as keeping my tools sharpened. Did a lil work writing for an independent label for Interscope in LA, but was hit wit small lung cancer as well as Mulit-Myeloma first stage which cause me to come back to new york to re-evaluate my life. These folks in the road have not stop or slow me down from my passion which is music. Whether its to sing in front a handfully of people or sold out areas, to do iindependent or signed artist to a label, learning more on my craft or going to school for production & engineering. In the end, I'm were I wanna be & won't trade it for anything in the world. And I'm just getting started.....
