'Oh man, I’ve got good news all around! First of all, even if there wasn’t anything to celebrate, this mix from Heathered Pearls is absolutely superb! Almost two hours in length it navigates many favorite genres and artists represented by the Michigan based label, Ghostly International. Just look at this amazing tracklist! In 2009, Ghostly celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a label, with many shows across the globe. This year, the label is commemorating a decade of performances at Decibel Festival. The 10th Ghostly showcase at Decibel will feature live performances from Dauwd, Beacon, Lusine and Shigeto (Friday, September 27th at the Crocodile) and you know that I’ll be there all night!

Meanwhile, Jakub Alexander (that’s Heathered Pearls), a curator of the ISO50 blog and founder of Moodgadget Records, has just released a digital remix album, titled Loyal Reworks, featuring many great artists, including Sun Glitters, loscil, Markus Guentner and Lawrence. Martin Wheeler returns to Soma Quality Recording with Electrospective, the 4th album under his Vector Lovers guise. Martin’s past long players, the self-titled Vector Lovers, Capsule For One and Afterglow, won fans the world over with his unsettlingly emotive strain of electronic funk. In Electrospective, the highlights from these three albums and corresponding singles are remastered, with 2 previously unreleased tracks joining them. Beyond going back to his original productions Electrospective album, Martin has also been working on his iPhone app, which is due for release in early 2011. Such is the quality of Vector Lovers sound that his productions have been picked up by several world-leading automotive brands, most notably BMW who jumped at Tokyo Glitterati for the soundtrack to their 3 Series ads. 
His futuristic take on Electronica immediately pricks the ears and burns a lasting mark in your head. Vector Lovers’ sound emanates from the 80’s, and is influenced by Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and early synth pop.

For Meka and Lizzie, in celebration of their wedding, with love.

The greatest gift I can offer: an obsessively-compiled selection of finely blended music. Tunes that soundtracked our glory days of tearing up the streets of London and ricocheting through festivals, an unstoppable train of reckless carnage, hedonistic abandon, and Buckfast. Simpler times - i.e. the days before Meka wore makeup.

In my nostalgic curation I've leaned more towards our more innocent years of bands, house music and simple misadventures, with later forays into Berlin and Bangface (and the boundaries of reality) left to the imagination and some darker mixtape.

So more of a present for Meks than Lizzie then, because who cares about a bunch of gurning boys listening to electro 10 years ago. But Lizzie can use this mix to better understand her new husband, and also to dance for 4 hours.

Thanks to Cain, John, and Will for helping compile the tracklisting - music from a milestone era of extreme behavior and roguish antics. 

And thanks to Meka for introducing me to some of the best friends I could ever hope for, and to Lizzie for marrying one of them.
