In today’s episode, my friend Lucy and I discuss the niche “internet music” genre known as “Hyperpop.” We each discuss our individual introductions to pop music, and how those introductions eventually led us into the Hyperpop sphere-of-influence. 💥💻👩🏻‍🎤

A huge thank you to Lucy for joining me for my very first episode! We met during UCSB’s production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a quarterly production we’ve starred in multiple times together, most notably in UCSB’s Spring 2023 production in which she and I played the bad boy/groupie couple, Eddie and Columbia! On this weekly radio show (hosted every Monday at 11:59pm on 91.9FM/@kcsbfm), I’ll be playing music that I define as being 𝙤𝙛, 𝙗𝙮, 𝙛𝙤𝙧, and 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 the internet (and note that this is meant as the *highest* of complements to the music that I’ll be playing - please see my highlighted Instagram story for a more complete description of the show! 💖)

2006 is an improvised radio experiment of obscure music reviewing and nostalgia for the iPod era.

A Chicago DJ with an affection for indie music and the Mighty Ducks

Jay Rossi aka Jac the Disco and head honcho at independent label ‘ SPIN ON THIS MUSIC’  has spent the last 18 years DJ’ing in some of London’s hottest late night dancing spots and beyond. He’s released on labels such as San Francisco’s Roam Recordings, Amsterdam's Silhouette Music, Night Noise, Eclectics and US label Wonder Stories which saw his release ‘highest heights’ hit the Number 1 spot on Juno’s Disco Chart the following month after its release.

His carefully executed productions have gained notable DJ and radio support from some of dance music’s finest; including the likes of Mano Le Tough, Michael Mayer, Ewan Pearson, B:Traits, Superpitcher, A Love From Outer Space, Axel Boman, Massimiliano Pagliara, Ame, Booka Shade and Jennifer Cardini to name a few.

Best known for his heady mix of nu disco, dreamy balearic, psychedelic house and synth-driven techno along with his ability to read the dance floor has enabled him to work a crowd either warming up with sleazy laid back grooves or ramping things up into peak-time misbehaviour and up into the stratosphere.

Erald is a Greek-Albanian DJ, music producer, and sound designer based in Oslo, Norway. His primary sound moves between house, techno, and electro.

Outside of the club scene, he enjoys exploring other genres including old school hip-hop, trip-hop, disco, soul, funk, and jazz. His musical journey has also taken him across the globe, sharing his passion in regions such as Brazil, Latin America, and the Arab world.

As a producer, Erald released music under the alias IAN between 2013 and 2018. In 2017, he reached No. 14 on Beatport’s charts with the track Dark Side of Love. His next release, a techno single titled Atlantis, is set to drop on May 9th. The track is named after the Intellijel Atlantis synthesizer, a modern clone of the classic Roland SH-101.

Since 2020, Erald has been active as a sound designer, creating over 30 sample libraries. His work spans VST presets, analog synth sample packs, foley recordings, and experimental field recordings.

Aautumn is a rare bird. Her sound and vision belie her rural Texas upbringing as she expertly blends her influences evoking a spirit you know presented in a way that you don’t. Her love of the classics and modern transport listeners to a place they’ve never been but have always wanted to visit. Aautumn’s work has captivated those lucky enough to experience her music with a blend of styles and influences. She draws on her deep production and songwriting skills to forge a sound and perspective that is entirely her own, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who listens.
