Asked to describe his music to a new listener one might falter. While it's true that there is a very specific sound at the core of his music, it is the fluid nature of Deetron's work that defines him as an artist. Yet there is one word that can be used to sum up this dynamic musical mind and the polymorphic sounds that he has mastered - Maverick.

His second album "Music Over Matter", which was released on Music Man end of last year, finds Deetron in a unique, transitional phase. Sophisticated minimalism was always a core feat of ALEX UNDER's portfolio, with the Spanish producer also serving as the founder and label manager for much-acclaimed techno label CMYK Musik. After releases on iconic imprints such as Trapez, Soma or Plus 8, the Madrilenian - one of the most sought-after electronic artists in Spain - now presents OLAS DE QUILA QUINA, his very first outing for Kompakt. Three slick, enticing cuts show him comitted to rolling basslines, rising synths and snappy percussion, all embedded in the futuristic sound design Alex has been honing over the course of his career. Unfolding to the backdrop of brooding metallic drones, the title track only needs a handful of carefully processed sounds to tell a highly evocative story - a focussed, geometrical jam that nonetheless allows for freewheeling outbursts of creativity. The same can be said for the punching, asymmetrical acid of EL REFLEJO DEL LACAR and the full-bodied bass bounce of LOLOG, as both cuts juxtapose sharp-edged shards of electronic texture with chewy, melodic synths. Inspired to use their platform to raise awareness of, and funds for, homeless individuals in the United Kingdom, The Waveform Transmitter has teamed up with a raft of top artists on the underground house and techno scene to bring you a compilation of exclusive and unreleased killer cuts.
The album starts out with a delectable re-rub of Jammhot’s Serenity, a summery house track which has been given the DEMI treatment, before we are segued beautifully into the wonderfully textural Broken Promises (produced exclusively by DEMI in his Wood Drift guise). Following this we have Arms and Legs head man, Daniel Steinberg, who brings classic house sensibilities right up to date with the haunting It’s Raining.
Ukrainian (via the US) producer Matuss offers up her Solicitors are Welcome, which is laden with Daft Punk and Stardust influences. Hotly tipped Dutch producer, Odette, demonstrates exactly why 2017 is set to be her year, with her minimal It Will Come, before Liverpool’s greatest export since TheBeatles, Yousef, begins to pick up the pace in with his Crisis Edit of his solo production, Strange Girl.
Italian producer Matt Sawyer weighs in next with his emotion-drenched slice of refined tech-house, Adagio. This is followed up expertly with the lilting, melancholically vocal-laden Fantasy, by Arms and Legs Records’ producer, Kristin Velvet. Danny Howells drops by next, with an 11-minute progressive house journey, Gone Tomorrow, flecked with stunning acid licks and infectious percussive breaks.
This leads us nicely into E-Motion, Mr.C’s as-yet unreleased track from his forthcoming album, Incidents, which steps the funk up over a bubbling acid bassline and rushing snares. Vanni & Fav cut through next with the House for the Homeless Dub of their tech-house banger Affinity, before Denny Loco turns the lights right down with his interpretation of Lonya’s Righteousness. Skryptöm’s Electric Rescue plays us out with a snarling techno beast, in the form of his track, Antom.

After his last release on Dirt Crew in 2017 we are more than delighted to bring back the talented Harry Wolfman. With impressive records on labels like Phonica, Omena, Outplay and Toy Tonics in the last years he has drawn up a fine new selection of music that spans across many genres and moods. This is also the first release for us in the new year after a lil break and it continues to explore the more eclectic approach we are following for a while now since the outings of artists like Dampé, S3A and Dan Only.

Harry presents an exciting opener for his new EP, together with vocalist Christian Crow he has made the blissful and breaks laden “poppy” good feel tune “A Way You Come Home to Me” that shines a bright light in these darker months. Followed by the deeper club tune “Step by Step”, building around yet another vocal recording. This time it’s Harry sampling his own voice and looping it into a repetitive piece of good feel House music.

We are getting deeper on the B side with “Speaking Raman”, one of these signature Harry tunes, a playful dusty lo-fi piece of music build around a piano theme and embedded in deep bass and driving beats, his sound trademark on all of these more floor orientated tracks on the EP. To close out the record we added two of his cinematic, ambient electronica works that we personally love so much. The haunting “Always 3” is a deep sphere that sucks you in a meditational and soothing womb of sounds. Ending with the electroid cut “Green Trees”, it’s broken and fragile and gives this indie-tronica track a warm and gentle touch.

We hope you enjoy these tunes and that they may be your soundtrack to the upcoming warmer months.

At the same time with these productions, the musical influence of Skyboy changes, and he starts mixing also the sounds coming from overseas, such as UK garage and postdubstep, without leaving his natural devotion to the sound of Detroit.
