With roots in Minneapolis @skydollmusic are a Soulful house / Nu Disco collective creating sumptuous and elegant club music. Their latest release Electric Love, which features a stunning vocal from Timotha Lanae, has a wonderfully laidback feel. Electric Love is a summers day track, warm and inviting, perfect for those lazy days around the pool getting ready for the big night ahead.

Our premier today sees the super talented Italian producer @michelechiavarini on remix duties injecting some club juice into the track.

Skydoll are a new soul trio from Minneapolis, though members Brandon Dalida, MacGregor Teigen and Paul Ryan all have long individual track records, working in various bands and studios and across a range of genres. They first heard featured vocalist Timotha Lanae singing with Alexander O'Neal at Minneapolis' famed First Avenue venue, but it wasn't until a chance encounter in the studio, when both were working (separately) with renowned session bassist and Steve Miller Band alumnus Billy Peterson, that the four joined forces.

The first fruit of their collaboration is Feel You, which is also the very first release on the band's own Skydoll Records. The single's out on Monday, complete with more uptempo rubs from Sandy Turnbull and Opolopo, but we thought we'd take a rare excursion into straight-up soul pastures and bring you the gorgeously smooth n' slinky original.

'Brighton-based Oliver Spalding’s debut EP ‘Unfurl’ is a huge, ambitious statement of intent. The 21 year-old’s voice aches with the emotion and craft of one at least twice his age, whether soaring over synthetic walls of sound, or pitched down to a low siren against soft electronic drones. Carefully scaled up from abstract ideas with producer Ed Tullett, Spalding’s first release showcases his haunting vocal amid a sparkling web of shimmering synthesisers and broken pianos, one moment grand and intricate, the next modest and intimate. Both ‘Hiraeth’ and the magnificently epic single ‘Epoch’ roar with Spalding’s powerful, felt desire and despair, whilst ‘Unfurl’ creeps slowly to a labyrinth of staggered synths, and ‘Reverse Hurt’ twists and turns between eerie hums and glistening peaks. ‘Unfurl’ is out ____ on Monotreme Records.’

South African top talent Vanco joins the Afrocentric Records stable with his dynamic 'Reflections EP', featuring 2 original collaborations with local vocalists Njabulo Seh on 'Lutho' and Thandi Draai on 'Walls'. 'Lutho' is about a love lost and sees Njabulo belt out a heartfelt melancholy vocal that glides over Vanco's deep, cinematic Afro House grooves. 'Walls' is deep, percussive and ripe with earthy beats and sweeping synthscapes as Thandi serves her soulful tones, waxing lyrical on breaking down the walls of a broken heart. 
The package includes 3 remixes; the first from the mighty John Tejada (Kompakt/Palette Recordings), who lends his signature lush, deep electronic wizardry on 'Lutho'; Afrocentric's Cory Centric amps up tension with a darker vibe, laced with rich percussion on 'Walls'; and London producer Pablo Martinez delivers a deeply hypnotic version teased with eery synth waves and a potent breakdown.
