This year UMR is 13 years old. To celebrate this auspicious birthday we drop a new compilation with remixes of UMR releases, both new and old. A total of 9 new and 4 previously released remixes.
It' a trip down memory lane and it seems like yesterday that I started the label with graphic designer Arn Gyssels and support of my roommate Alkaloid, almost as a joke... Back in the day we used to sell CD's at rave parties and did our mastering in a local non-profit recording studio.
Now 13 years later we've grown to a non profit web-label with a catalogue of 45 releases and we have helped a bunch of young artists elevate from the shadows into a professional music career.
Our vision is still to offer opportunities to alternative and under-appreciated musicians and to avoid commercial influences and stray off generic paths, with a big love for cross-breads and psychedelics as our main motivation. In the contemporary Spotify climate it's not easy to be 'different' and it seems almost like a political battle against mainstream bullshit. But we will keep working as a typical man-ape; creating to compensate a lack of instinct.
We want to thank all our fans for 13 years of support.

Skyelar is an independent music project from singer, songwriter and producer Jaklien Verham, based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Jaklien spent many years performing with various bands as a singer throughout the Netherlands and in 2013, performed at the world famous Paradiso in Amsterdam with her last band Rumours, as part of the Pinguin Radio annual music festival. 

Following her true path, Jaklien studied Music Theory and History at The Schumann Academy in Utrecht, complementing her course with studies in Music Production, and began composing her unique brand of inspirational music during this time. 

Began in 2017, Skyelar is the culmination of her musical career, combining soaring vocals with brooding, atmospheric compositions which draw you in to her cinematic and richly textured world. Working with session musicians from Europe and the US, her songs are written, arranged and produced from her home studio. 

April 2022 Skyelar has released her first album 'Lucid Dreaming'. She’s had lots of positive responses from reviewers all over the world, like 'Rolling Stone' Brazil. She’s also been included in several playlists on Spotify and has been played on Pinguin radio’s main indie stream in The Netherlands.
