In this episode we feature Jake Ryan, an 18 year old American EDM Producer coming from San Luis Obispo, California, who brings elements from styles such as Bigroom, Techno, Future Rave, Psytrance, and Hardstyle into his tracks. 

He fell in love with electronic music at a young age and has pursued it since. 

He began releasing music in 2021, and in 2022 was signed to record labels such as: Raised Recordings, EDM Mania Recordings, and Seal Network. He now works with EDM Mania Recordings as an A&R and is working harder than ever on music!

$kyw@lk3r found a love for Djing at the young age of 14 in what would be considered more of a science project than a studio / bedroom in the back yard of his mom’s house in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In 1997 he was taught and taken under the wing of the son of a family friend who had spent 2 years in the UK learning from the legendary Graham Gold. 

Originally taught in more the techno and deeper styles, Skywalk3r found a love for the harder styles of music like hard house and hard trance from artists like Tiesto, Mario Piccatto, Tidy Trax, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren.

By 1999 $kyw@lk3r was well on his way in Djing but battled for gigs due to a movement in his own country to move towards the slower deeper styles. This caused most hard gigs to be played to smaller crowds in underground or warehouse parties.

Around 2010 Mainstage EDM and Trance made a huge come back with the likes or Ultra and Tomorrowland festivals growing popularity and the arrival on the scene of the kings of the industry like Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, Skrillex and Martin Garrix. $kywalk3r knew it was time to shine but being just a beat matching Dj was no longer going to be enough.

In 2012 he took it upon himself to learn to use multiple different types of software and hardware, took up 2 courses in advanced music and began his Journey into music production. By 2015 he was featured with his new track “Nemesis” on a New Zealand radio show as an up and coming producer.

He has since produced numerous tracks and has been involved in remix’s, mashups and collabs with other likeminded dj’s and producers around the world. 

Future plans include launching his own monthly podcast show by end 2020, growing the $kw@lk3r brand, get signed to a label and getting onto some of the main stages of some of the world’s biggest festivals.
