Powerful Action

Arriving as the third outing of Len Faki’s recently established non-profit platform LF RMX, these previously exclusive edits take on a raging classic by courtesy of Frankie Bones, godfather of the North-American rave scene.

The new Hardspace Mix bolsters up the characteristic vocal and synths for even more frantic effect but trades in the percussion for Faki’s signature assault of claps and hats. These also dominate the stripped-back Hardspace Tool, which carefully builds momentum only around the sirens and some seriously sizzling low-end rumble. Both of Faki’s personal mixes capture the orignal’s raw energy, yet manage to appear in both sleek but powerful presence.

As with all releases of LF RMX, the proceeds of this record will be donated to the Berlin charity project Straßenkinder e.V. to be used in actions against child poverty.

Slam drop their 2nd release of 2018 as the duo continue to develop their unique and hard-hitting sound with the Constructivism EP. Despite the pair’s heavy touring schedule, they consistently deliver ever more impressive releases each time, exploring the realms of dance floor orientated Techno.   Opening with Mellifluous, surging synths are propelled by tough kicks and driving percussive elements yet the whole track is tied together by deep and emotive pads. Pantera begins to take things up a notch. A seemingly more stripped back approach gives way to hypnotic rhythms and effect drum workouts. Paradox lifts things further still, building gradually through effective use of subtle FX and a very in your face track structure. Title track Constructivism a colossal EMB cut, road-tested by the pair at Berghain just two weeks ago, closes out the EP. A well crafted and constantly evolving sequence burns at the heart and drives this monster home with furious energy.

Staring back to 2011, Adam Beyer and Alan Fitzpatrick’s ‘Human Reason’ track was a huge Drumcode release and with Len Faki’s new stamp on it, he is showing the unique talent that Drumcode have within their ranks. Len Faki’s Remix incorporates the original lead sound into different rhythms and puts it against different sound textures to create a sure-fire techno track. ‘Memesis’ is a new original track from Adam Beyer and Alan Fitzpatrick that uses a deep bass line to create a solemnly dark atmosphere. It also uses synth stabs help to enforce this trippy, hypnotising ambiance that moulds the track together.

Slam (aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) are a tour de force on the global techno circuit. Their unique, six deck, back-to-back DJ performances have seen the duo play leading clubs and festivals across the world. They are renowned for both their experience and their powerful, contemporary sound. 

They are co-owners of Glasgow's Riverside Festival, and also host the legendary Maximum Pressure warehouse parties, which showcase the best emerging local talent alongside some of the most established names in international techno.

Their iconic Soma Records label boasts in excess of 600 releases, hosting Mcmillan and Meikle's own productions and many of today's most cutting-edge techno artists.

The last few years have seen some of the duo's most prolific studio output as they continue to innovate and keep things moving forward, most recently with the release of their experimental full length record Athenæum 101. In addition, Slam have also remixed tracks from the likes of Planetary Assault Systems, Clouds, Dax J, Damon Wild, Richie Hawtin, and Truncate, to name just a few. 

Slam also host one of Techno's most respected weekly podcasts, Slam Radio, which has now surpassed over 400 episodes. The show allows the duo to demonstrate their conviction to creating and promoting music and vibes that provide an antidote to the mainstream by inviting fellow artists from the vibrant Techno scene, from obscure names to current trailblazers.
