For the next release on Slam City Jams, Rhode & Brown teamed up with Permanent Vacation head honcho Benjamin Fröhlich for their „Days Of Innocence“ EP. As the title suggests, the trio dives deep into the realms of early 90s house music, a time when the genre was still in its infancy.

First up we have the "Club Mix", which actually needs no further explanation: With heavy 909s, classic M1 organs, deep pads and euphoric stuttering vocal shots, this tune is strongly reminiscent of early prog- house records. The „Dream Mix" on the other hand takes the same elements and strips them down to a deeper yet groovy vibe, influenced by Andrew Weatherhall's 1993 "Massive Mellow Mix“.

Finally the EP is rounded off with the "Nature Mix". A smooth atmospheric version of the track that captures the mood of the morning after the party.''

The Austrian DJ/producer duo Wiener Planquadrat (@wienerplanquadrat) consisting of Michael Weiler and Maximilian Atteneder are the first to feature on Iptamenos Discos’ new single series with ‘Ein Weites Feld’, a powerful single that presents a fusion of sounds from dark disco, electro, acid and house.

Showcasing a wide variety of analogue sounds and synths, the track builds an euphoric and futuristic atmosphere, featuring striking percussion that gives the track a feeling of weight as well as utilising a vocal that blurs the line between human and robot. The song continuously builds up the energy with a flurry of arpeggiators, sweeping pads and acid basslines, giving the listener the sense that they are breaking free from the atmosphere and launching off into space, as if they are floating away in zero gravity.

Wiener Planquadrat has built their sound over a variety of successful releases including their debut hit single ‘Stillstand’ and the follow up EP ‘Dschungel‘, as well as many remixes and collaborations with artists such as Local Suicide, You Man, Kalipo, Dina Summer, Oberst & Buchner & Ali X. In recent times they have been DJing and playing live shows in Berlin, Paris, Thessaloniki, and Vienna as well as focusing on the production of their debut album.

‘Ein Weites Feld’ will release via Iptamenos Discos on digital and streaming platforms on August 8th, 2023 and will feature the original mix, a radio edit and an instrumental mix.

The Queer Northern-Ireland born Cormac is back from another busy year as a label honcho and curator with the second Polari compilation No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 scheduled for release 31st of January 2024.

The compilation is filled with synth heavy swings, acid basslines, steamy vocals and lots of fun, making NTITB Vol. 2 the perfect entrance release into the new year.

Cormac says; No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 is a unique family with offerings from Polari hitmakers such as Jordan Nocturne, ROTCIV, & Louis de Tomaso as well as introducing new talent to the roster including DJ City, Nimmo, Shay Shaz, Hifi Sean, Joshua James + Xols.

I curate the compilation much as I do a DJ set, so there is a voyage of sorts in listening to the compilation as a whole. I encourage the listener to listen as you would an album, although they of course work solo as well.

A 10-track long journey forms a unique force of anthemic sounds, tapping into nostalgia but never pulling away from today's references. No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 serves as a dance-heavy pursuit aiming to not hold back.

The label profits from the new compilation are going to charity. Polari has previously raised money for All Out.

Doctors Without Borders is a politically neutral Non-Governmental Organisation whose main objective is to treat people in regions of the world where they are most needed. They are currently most active in Gaza and have a further 70 projects active in the world.

This track is a reinterpretation of Nostalgia, a track released earlier this year on Plurpura Records' Duality compilation. This time, it features the vocals of Baridi Baridi, a wonderful artist and friend I had the pleasure of meeting in person late last year. We took that time to listen to this track together, imagining the moment it would be released. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the creation process.

Chilean producer Matias V makes his debut with the 3AM, Manhattan Bridge EP, delivering two deep and jazz-tinged original cuts that stay true to Esquimau's signature aesthetic. Both '3AM, Manhattan Bridge' and 'Another Day' sit somewhere between glassy-eyed U.S. garage nostalgia and the colorful deep house of the late '90s and early 2000s, showcasing classic elements like lush chords, organ keys and piano riffs. In  just  a  year  of  existence,  Chloé’s  Lumière  Noire  has  brought  emerging  artists  and  promising  newcomers  together  –  and  this  first  compilation  of  13  brand  new  tracks  expands  the  roster,  exposing  the  label’s  eclectic  vision  in  full  daylight.  When  Chloé  talks  about  her  label,  she  puts  forward  the  fundamental  values  that  informed  her  own  musical  journey,  her  trust  in  her  own  musical  taste  –  and,  of  course,  the  predominance  of  human  relationships:  “I  followed  my  bliss  and  only  commissioned  tracks  from  artists  that  I  respect  and  whose  music  I  love.  That  to  me  is  Lumière  Noire’s  musical  palette.”With  this  13-track,  unmixed  compilation,  Chloé  makes  a  case  for  a  label  aesthetic  that  is  based  in  open-mindedness.  Familiar,  elemental  Lumière  Noire  artists  are  represented,  as  are  new  faces,  producing  a  kind  of  group  photo  presaging  what’s  next  for  the  fledgling  label.  Lyon’s  Markus  Gibb  leads  the  track  listing  with  Kuru  with  a  deep  chiaroscuro  matching  the  label’s  ethos,  followed  by  other  mainstays  Il  Est  Vilaine’s  Farenheit  451,  which  evokes  Ray  Bradbury’s  retro-dystopic  angst  with  the  band’s  usual  electro-pop  elegance.  Sutja  Gutierrez,  who  released  in  debut  EP,  The  Legend  of  Time  on  Lumière  Noire  in  April,  pursues  his  electro-Shamanism  with  the  ceremonial  Allodoxaphobia,  while  Iñigo  Vontier  (whose  EP  Aluxes  came  out  on  the  label  in  late  2017)  brings  his  Contra  project  online  with  track  Taurus,  a  further  development  in  voodoo  house.  Elsewhere,  Suuns  lead  singer  Ben  Shemie,  who  lent  his  fascinating  art-rock  croon  to  Recall,  a  single  from  Chloé’s  Endless  Revisions  LP,  contributes  A  Million  Kinds,  a  synthy,  psych-pop  debut  that  is  as  brilliant  as  it  is  surprising.  On  to  the  freshman  class:  Dutch  producer  Drvg  Cvltvre  (who  gets  personal  kudos  from  Chloé  with  each  new  12”)  brings  the  uncompromising  dark  electro  of  his  hypnotic  and  claustrophobic  Last  Rites.  Jonathan  Fitoussi’s  airy,  minimalistic  Cercles  Polaires  brings  the  respite  of  his  recent  Versatile  Espaces  Timbrés  LP  (a  collaboration  with  Clemens  Hourrières):  “I  met  him  at  Xavier  Veilhan’s  Studio  Venezia  at  the  Venice  Biennale.  He’s  a  great  guy,  and  his  universe  is  unique,”  says  Chloé.  Benedikt  Frey’s  deep  techno  track  Iaon,  is  on  par  with  his  smash  2017  album,  Artificial,  out  on  ESP  Institute.    First-timers  are  also  part  of  the  recruits:  Bajram  Bili  with  the  ten  cerebral  minutes  of  Restart,  Théo  Muller  with  the  ultra-deep  Douce  Transe,  and  Lumi,  a  Basque  band  that  fuses  electronic  sounds  with  acoustic  instruments,  brings  the  compilation  to  a  close  with  a  track  commissioned  by  Chloé,  who  met  them  at  a  festival.  These  audacious  choices  are  anchored  down  with  the  likes  of  Permanent  Vacation  pioneer  Lauer’s  hooky,  80s-infused  Pythor  (“Just  like  him,  I  was  a  resident  of  the  Robert  Johnson,  and  he  was  a  guest  of  mine  at  one  of  my  Lumière  Noire  nights  at  the  Rex.  He  is  one  of  these  people  whose  music  I  highly  appreciate);  Aergeworc  &  Franck  Agrario,  half  of  English  duo  Swayzak  David  Brown’s  project,  weaves  an  ethno*  mood  into  Grace’s  techno.  Bringing  together  different  generations,  genres,  and  styles?  That  may  not  necessarily  be  Chloé’s  MO.  She  invokes  a  more  arbitrary,  personal  logic:  “I  like  to  mix  of-the-moment  tracks  and  more  timeless  one,  but  the  rule  is  above  all  ‘do  I  love  this  or  not?’.  That  was  my  ethos  when  I  started  Lumière  Noire.”  In  that  way,  the  label  is  definitely  in  keeping  with  its  time...
