JOTW currently features musicians worldwide (Ireland, UK, Japan, Austria, France, etc), with all different skill levels and at all different ages, ranging from 12 to 92 years old. Top horn players and other musicians who play in the bands of well-known artists such as Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Lettuce, Snarky Puppy, Prince, Jill Scott, Preservation Brass Band, Bootsy Collins and more have joined in. New album Not Everyone Can Go – out now everywhere.

Singer/songwriter, Jordan Mericle, caught the music bug in a way that most from her generation did: a combination of Disney movie soundtracks and her parents' selection of classics. Oh, and a little film called The Bodyguard, starring the legendary Whitney Houston in her hallmark role. With a supportive mom and dad and a brother whom she drove crazy with her belting, she enrolled in voice lessons and an after-school music program in the fourth grade, laying the groundwork for a career that has brought her to where she is today.

Every artist has a different creative process, and Mericle's has evolved since her first school performance of a song from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Over time, she has discovered that music flows out of her when she’s in a quiet, organized place with a candle burning; she often writes down words and feelings to piece together later, or she’ll approach a song with a melody that’s already with her. Though she may try to align everything according to her own perfectionist tendencies, she admits "it's never the exact same process."
Big dreams punctuate Mericle's list of goals. Among them are collaborating with top artists she admires, recording music in multiple languages, and headlining iconic venues like the Hollywood Bowl, Radio City, and Red Rocks. But ultimately it comes down to what every artist wants, which is making a comfortable living off writing, recording, and performing while also impacting fans. "I've always believed music has the power of healing,” she says. The hustle of a new artist is very real, and Mericle admits that she’s “never not busy,” understanding the sheer amount of effort it takes to strike a balance between talent, business, and personal health. That commitment to herself and her art has led to a following of nearly 60K on Instagram and to stage performances of her own solo music in her current city, NYC.

Speaking of solo music, the songstress has dropped new songs that she describes as bold, empowering, and earnest, like "Don't Look, Don't Fall," "Sword and Shield," and "Stolen”.  In what has so far been a fascinating, exciting, and challenging ride thus far, she is just getting started. As she says excitedly, "as far as direction goes... Onward and upward."
