When together they go by Ingi Visions and have a unique heavy underground sound made for dancefloor destruction. We are going to Switzerland (by way of Argentina) for our next podcast to welcome techno artist Barem into the Balance Selections family. Best known for his releases on Richie Hawtin’s M_nus label, the producer has really made a name for himself with his warm, stripped back techno and house productions, a style which he feels encapsulates a feeling more so than an actual genre: “Minimal is not really a sound… it’s just a way of making music. It represents good taste, stylish sounds, the underground, after hours… Whatever native roots you have, whatever music you like or liked in the past, it all fits in there and it’s not dying in my opinion. It’s just arrived at the point where we’ve rediscovered how free and amazing the concept and the reasons behind it are.’’

But as with all good artists, career growth and change is essential to the soul, and last year the producer announced his departure from the M_nus crew to pursue new projects. And he did just that with  the announcement of FUN Recordings, a new label co-founded by Barem which is already 2 releases deep with tracks from Barem, and fellow Argentinean producer and label co-founder, Alex Cabrera.

Having played at some of the biggest global events cites including Detroit Music Festival, Timewarp, Miami, Ibiza and ADE, there really is no doubt that Barem is considered a major player in the global scene – and the Argentinean has delivered a suitably quality mix which should keep listeners coming back for more.

Balance Selections 020: Barem

Barem has turned in a remix for Ralph Lawson’s forthcoming ‘Lost In The Storm’ single, which is due for release through his own 20/20 Vision label on Monday 3rd October. We’ve got the exclusive play of the Argentinian mastermind’s rework above.

Working endless shuffling hi hats, wallowing bass and echoing synths, Barem’s remix comes part of a selection that also includes Hector Couto, Shaun Reeves, Fernando and Rui-Z.

Ralph Lawson’s original of the track, which features field recordings of storms passed through banks of delays and reverbs, has been huge this summer as a regular for Seth Troxler, as well as gaining plays from DJ Harvey, Greg Wilson, Jamie Jones, Dungeon Meat and D’Julz.

Barem has also joined the all-star line-up for our upcoming DJ Mag Sessions at Egg London this Saturday 24th September. The Minus-affliate is set to headline the Terrace, where he has support from Kyle E and The Willers Brothers.

Holland's hottest duo, Detroit Swindle, will be dominating the mainroom dancefloor. Known for their killer blend of house and disco, the Heist bosses will be joined by veteran producer Recloose and one of our favourite London labels, Wolf Music.

5 years ago it all started with our very first release the Raw Joints #1. We wanted to build a platform for our artists to publish their music as they see it. Now 13 releases further we're ready to introduce our biggest project ever since: Raw joints #5!! To celebrate our 5th anniversary we decided to do something special and we had so many tracks that we decided to do a triple LP with 14 tracks on it. A lot of new/old artists have contributed to this heavy weight dance floor bomb with various styles and energy. To top it off we asked our good friends from Studio Airport to complete this thing with a proper Raw Joint sleeve. 
The mask is the face of SlapFunk and inside this gatefold sleeve you will find us all dancing to that one thing which unites us all: Music! 
Shout out to our dear friend Vincent de Boer for drawing the magic.
With all the celebrations comes a Europe tour as well so HOLD TIGHT!!

While his music often sounds like the work of a funky otherworldly being, Ewan Smith (aka Youandewan) – originally from Yorkshire – now makes his hazy, futuristic house and techno from his adopted home of Berlin. Recently dazzling us with his latest stroke of genius known simply as The Brane 001 – the debut release on his new label of the same name is seemingly the first of many glimpses into his unique twist on uptempo Detroit influenced club tracks stacked with sci-fi appeal the likes of early Juan Atkins material. We caught up with the easy going producer, who's also become one of the Voyage Recordings family after his brilliantly dubbed out release for Andy Hart's label last year, and he's mixed up a stellar two hour session of his signature stripped back space grooves and dubby atmospherics.
