French producer Less-O broke through all guns blazing towards the end of last year with the release of 'Shenanigans' on TEMET. Quickly becoming one of our favourite releases of 2021 (we've lost count of how many times we've played 'Bumblebee'), Less-O also recently founded the collective Contre Temps alongside TufT as place for him to push and represent breaks and bass music in France. We're super excited to have the very much emerging artist contribute to our series with a boisterous mix that channels some of the influences you can find in his productions from grime, trap, to bass, breaks and more. An inspiring set which leaves you in anticipation of wanting more.

XC-17 (@stephanie-alona-helen) is a DJ, producer, visual artist, and event organizer based in Pittsburgh. They are a founder of the Dyspheric (@dsypheric-leesss) series, which got started with livestreams during lockdown and has since evolved into a mix series and live events. Their DJing is as energetic and adventurous as their ethos: when it comes down to it, it's about being creative, having fun, and making space for everyone.

"This mix was about trying to showcase different music I love, in a way that I love to hear. I just really love so many genres. I felt like making something I will listen to any time of the day, and that I will like any time of the day, and I guess just feels close to me in a way. It gave me enough room to really just mess with things and have fun and be creative with it."

Before relocating to Vancouver, Overland sharpened her skills in the snowy expanses of Alberta. A tireless DJ and promoter, she's hosted a score of all-nighters and club events across the city, making her mark as an enthusiastic booster of a vibrant scene. 

Her tracks embody her DJ sets, a frenetic fusion of classic techno with fresh rave sensibilities, both razor-sharp and mind-expanding in the same breath. Her ability to connect scenes and sounds from across the globe found fertile soil quickly, and releases followed on Los Angeles-based Helpful Music and Lisbon’s finest purveyor of peak-time heaters, Naive.

Our last mix of the year is truly a special one indeed! MEMCO alums Fabiola & Lorelei teamed up for a magical one-tow punch after DJing together for over 5 years now. 

Highlighted by a unique & cohesive selection, they managed to successfully round out this rather frantic year on a special note, captured through their mutual love for Electro, Bass & anything Detroit. 

Instead of verbally communicating, they were feeding off of each other’s energy during an intense & intimate recording session. Get ready to enter a space where the bass takes on an extra-terrestrial form of its own. 

When asked for the idea & theme behind this mix, Fabi & Laura deem the emphasis on robotic & alien-like sounds as freeing. The trippy, repetitive, & funky machine-like
soundscapes are, in contrast to us beings, not programmed to uphold any particular system. Rather, the patterns they follow serve the purpose of breaking down any barriers & inhibitions we might have. We‘ve have done our part already by dancing, feeling it to the core & simply “getting lost in the beat” - will you do the same?
