Bside Incoming: Gallegos

We’re very pleased to present the latest instalment of the Bside Incoming series from Bristol based DJ, Producer, Record Collector, and ‘Room Service’ Label boss: Gallegos.

He’s plenty of experience behind the decks, as the founder and resident DJ of SHAPES in Bristol, where he’s warmed up for some of the very best in the business: Carl Craig, Omar S, Deetron and Move D. Since his debut release on Banoffee Pies in 2017, he’s maintained a steady stream of original and infectious dance records including his ‘B45’ EP which was featured by Chaos in the CBD for their essential mix. Gallegos now has an imprint of his own called ‘Room Service Recordings’, with his first release on the label providing a fitting conclusion to a Bside episode which explores the influences that brought him to where he is today.

Known for his dance music sets, but always unrestricted by genre, Gallegos is revered for his versatility and unpredictability. So, what a privilege to have excellent history of his broad musical influences, hip-hop, disco boogie, breaks and beats samples, Balearic, house and techno reminiscent of the Bristol rave scene, and an episode packed full of passion and nostalgia.

Takeshi Kouzuki returns to ALLEY VERSION label for sharing with the brothers duo FLML, the split mini-LP “Tracks From The Alley”.

From his early cult releases for Mathematics Recordings, Takeshi Kouzuki, as in these new tracks, keeps crossing old school house with his recognizable classy signature.
The warm but hitting acid of “福”, opens the Takeshi Kouzuki’s side, while in the second track “1986” deep-and-dark synthetic magic atmospheres are driven by the beating of the twins TR707 and TR727 drum machines. “Yellowacid” burns in its acid-jackin’ madness.

Openig FLML’s side “Hot Spread” is obscure jackin’ techno mechanical psychedelia, the following “Jack That Strings” is a pure raw windy city deep‘n’acid track. In the closing “Does Mean It’s You” a freaky FM synth melody is driven by the pulsing of liquid and creepy analog synths and drums, while an 8-bit sampled Andy Warhol’s speaking fragment marks the space, until dies in a delay feedback.

“Tracks From The Alley” is released exclusively on limited 12” vinyl.

It only took 10 seconds for her to forget; one moment in the throws a dramatic, life-threatening situation, and the next awake, pondering where and what exactly plagued her dreams but a moment before. Her memories were lost, but she thought herself lucky. Whatever took hold of her mind during sleep must be something that needed to be eclipsed, the waking feeling of panic was enough to cement that notion. 

A familiar face around Amsterdam, former Red Light Records and radio affiliate and Music From Memory team member Kennedy welcomes us into his sonic world with DREAM1, the first official release on his own Dream Machine imprint. The two-tracker of warm, bright house jams, laced with squelchy acid lines, follows his production debut, In A Spirit World, a limited release sold only at Rush Hour which launched the label in 2019.

Sonic explorers, label heads, pillars of the Melbourne/Naarm underground, Sleep D explore the rave unconscious - driving rhythms, hypnotic bass, worlds of echo and the hazy bliss of the morning after. Childhood friends with Iraqi and Maltese lineage, the duo and their legacy building Butter Sessions label have ushered in a new era, sensibility and productivity to the city that raised them.

A defiantly DIY two-man assembly line, Maryos Syawish and Corey Kikos have issued a steady stream of diverse records on their own imprint, as well as on like-minded international outposts Incienso, Planet Euphorique and Cocktail d'Amore. Releasing ‘Rebel Force’ in 2019 and ‘Electronic Arts’ in 2023, their albums bind a singular take on mutated house, bush doof, dub techno and downtempo, while their composition and production capacity has also been augmented via 2021’s chamber orchestra collaboration ‘Flashed Glass’ and the rescored film soundtracks for ‘Eraserhead’ and ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’.

With long-standing DJ residencies and an ever evolving live show fit for both clubs and vast paddocks, the dexterous duo’s alchemy has energised hordes across the US, UK, Europe, Asia and Australia.
