Brussels-based producer Andrea Mancini alias @clevelandmusicpage fancies swimming against the tide and his latest for Spanish outlet @hivern_disc - 'nDSi' - does indeed take us far away from the boring techno highway and main genre alleys, easing us into a world of playful electronics, bright textures and constantly changing harmonics.

We were very surprised at Versatile when we received this file from Flocofloco2020@gmail.com. And we still have very little info on the track that was there. “On m’a dit…” by Floco Floco is a lofi afro-disco stomper hailing straight from the new ghettos created by confinement. Something had to give and we are glad that Floco Floco, whoever he is, has chosen us to ease his lock down mind:

“I’ve been told to stay at home, on WhatsApp all day long, working in the studio, reading books I haven’t read, I hope it won’t be too long, I don’t know if I can hold, smoking weed day & night, like never I have been before”

Not a message, just a statement (and a big phat groove).

Martin Jenkins, more commonly known as the artist Pye Corner Audio, epitomizes Lapsus' commitment to cutting edge sound experimentation. In 2017, he beguiled the electronic music community by releasing the 'Where Things Are Hollow' EP, on Lapsus Records. Now we are delighted to announce the release of ‘Where Things Are Hollow 2’, consisting of three brand new original cuts and a breath-taking remix from none other than John Talabot.

'Where Things Are Hollow 2' explores a spectral and hypnagogic terrain, establishing an electronic sound that at times invokes Jenkins’ more dance friendly facet -'Self Synchronize', 'Weather The Storm'– while also offering his familiar iridescent dreamlike ambient textures –'Phase B'– that featured prominently on his first EP.

This second EP also includes a remix from John Talabot, unquestionably one of Spain’s most internationally recognised names over the last decade, who exquisitely reimagines 'Resist' -a song from the first EP-, transforming it into a cross between EBM and hypnotic techno.

From a graphic design perspective, renowned artists Alex Trochut and Basora have once again collaborated on this project, repeating the formula that made the artwork for "Where Things Are Hollow" such a collector's item.

The two Amsterdam based producers have produced a four track EP under the guise of Darcey Electronics which is out today on the newly launched label Pleasant Life.

The release features four tracks of off centre electronics, kitsch downtempo and electro which comes off the back of independent releases from both artists for the likes of Safe Trip, Off Minor Dial, Intergraded and Voyage Direct.

As close friends the duo have been working hard in their studio in the Dutch capital but this is the first time that they have ever released music together. 

The record is available on both vinyl and digital with only a small handful of stores stocking copies such as Phonica, Public Possession and Rubadub.

The computer screens flickered, omitting a bright glow that lit the small dark room. Shoulder to shoulder smartly dressed men sat hovered over the screens, intently watching the information that shot across the screen in a rapid bursts. Illegible code and indecipherable numbers; blink and you'd miss it. From the outside, little was known about the operations taking place in this building. Many speculated but all were too afraid to ask...

Under his Pleasure Model alias, Bristol born producer and film composer Antoni Maiovvi explores his love of wave, synth and Italo disco. Having previously released an EP and two albums for Budapest's Dalmata Daniel, he now makes a return to the label ahead of his new LP on 100% Silk, delivering a four tracker titled Update 2.1. Written during a period spent living in The Hague, the release is a batch of freaky Italo jams, complete with weighty drums and soaring synths.

Eluize returns to Craigie Knowes to release her second album in the form of the beautifully eclectic 8-track 'Gone' LP. Ambient and Experimental sounds feature alongside club-ready Techno and Electro - moving effortlessly and coherently across genre and influence.

'Gone' captures the full-spectrum of Eluize's mastery in song-writing, composition and production in all of its shimmering glory. Her take on synthesis, drum-programming, mixing and original vocals / lyrics take you by the hand and lead you into a rich garden of colour and sound in what is likely her most accomplished work to date.

'Gone' will also feature 2 semi-abstract videos directed collectively by the artist and videographers based in Berlin; the city where the album was written.

Eluize recently launched a coaching / mentoring program focused on supporting Womxn, Non-binary and Trans people in technical production, performance and label management within the realm of electronic music. Sharing her expertise and experience in music production, live performance, djing, releasing music, label management and general support around balancing life, mental health, motherhood, living abroad and the trials and tribulations of working in "the industry”.

Her efforts to elevate the dance music community through action as well as production is testimony to her character's force as a vessel for positive change.

'Gone' will be available on vinyl and digital from the 19th of October 2020.

Sonic explorers, label heads, pillars of the Melbourne/Naarm underground, Sleep D explore the rave unconscious - driving rhythms, hypnotic bass, worlds of echo and the hazy bliss of the morning after. Childhood friends with Iraqi and Maltese lineage, the duo and their legacy building Butter Sessions label have ushered in a new era, sensibility and productivity to the city that raised them.

A defiantly DIY two-man assembly line, Maryos Syawish and Corey Kikos have issued a steady stream of diverse records on their own imprint, as well as on like-minded international outposts Incienso, Planet Euphorique and Cocktail d'Amore. Releasing ‘Rebel Force’ in 2019 and ‘Electronic Arts’ in 2023, their albums bind a singular take on mutated house, bush doof, dub techno and downtempo, while their composition and production capacity has also been augmented via 2021’s chamber orchestra collaboration ‘Flashed Glass’ and the rescored film soundtracks for ‘Eraserhead’ and ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’.

With long-standing DJ residencies and an ever evolving live show fit for both clubs and vast paddocks, the dexterous duo’s alchemy has energised hordes across the US, UK, Europe, Asia and Australia.
