Born in Gary, Indiana, Jay Slugga, moved to Wilmington, Delaware as a young teenager. During this period, he became heavily involved in the Philadelphia Metropolitan/Delaware Valley Area Hip-Hop scene.  Inspired by Hip-Hop Icons such as, Tupac, Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Biggie and Nas, he then dedicated himself to the art of cleverly crafting and delivering a sharp and witty style of rhyming. 

After generating a strong local following, along with his Hood Hippie Family, Jay Slugga began to perform at numerous entertainment venues throughout Wilmington and the surrounding area.  He has been the featured artist on countless songs, received positive press and air play, but remains humble.  

Confident in knowing that his best work will soon be on display for the world to hear, Jay Slugga is consistently driven by the pursuit of perfecting his musical gift. In Hip-Hop, Jay Slugga found an escape from what, at times, felt like the cold world closing in from all directions. In fact, he has often credited Hip-Hop Music with saving him from the ills that have claimed so many - including family and friends - in the 'Hood". Now, with every heavy hitting bar that he "knocks out the park", Jay Slugga plans to show his appreciation.
