In 1988 Steve Angstrom founded TimeShard, noted as innovators in the UK electronic dance underground during the 'second summer of love' in 1989.
Steve's band became known as one of the UK's first live 'acid house' acts, and during this time they developed a sound which became known as Psychedelic trance although at the time they described it as "Shamanic Trance" . A name derived from their interest in using the music, and the trance in a more directed and "magical" way than their peers.

Timeshard's music found success UK's free-festival circuit, which was in a period of transition and fusion as acid house fans found a place to dance without restriction, outside mainstream club culture. Steve and TimeShard built a devoted following among the mixture of punks and Acid House followers which flocked to Britain's free festivals fields during this period.

Gradually, their live show expanded outwards and across Europe, while their sound gained elements of ethno-techno, trance and dub. Timeshard also gained attention for their self-released, cassette-only albums, Who Pilots the Flying Saucers in 1991 and Hyperborean Dome Temples of Apollo the following year. In 1994, Planet Dog signed the group and released Crystal Oscillations and the trio's second full album, Hunab Ku, appeared in 1996.

Touring and performing constantly from 1989 to 2001 Steve moved away from live performance, but now is back after digging through his vaults and discovering hidden treasures, his unreleased works which were recorded in snatched moments but never released.

Couldn't have imagined someone better to start off the new EstimuloShow Guest Mix series than the mystery man behind the UK's Spillway label, Kellon.

He's had a string of releases that just kept wowing us over the last two years, the first four going under his own Kellon project and the fifth that just came out recently opening up to other producers while keeping the typical Spillway profound techno vibe.
It's the same kind of soulful and personal tone that pervades his guest mix contribution, fusing classics and lesser know gems of (mostly 90s) deep house and detroit techno.

MARICAS was born in January 2018 due to several discussions about the lack of a night-out in Barcelona that combined electronic music and the queer scene. If we look back on history, the techno rave community started with the help of the LGBTQ+ misfits of the 80s. Both communities have very similar values, freedom, youth and underground culture. Our home is Barcelona, but we aim to take MARICAS all over the globe, and have already had nights in Stockholm, Ibiza, Paris, Valencia and participated in Whole Festival. In 2020 MARICAS Records was founded, a genre music fluid label, and the first release was non other than by resident and maricas mother ISAbella.

Barcelona-based radio show / record label Canela en Surco is proud to present the first compilation of the best early works of Alex Martin, a local hero and pioneer of the electronic music scene in Barcelona and a key piece in the development of dance music during the early 90's.
Producing under different pseudonyms (Sideral, A3K, The Fat DB, as well as his own name, Alex Martin), he has released EPs on iconic labels such as F Communications, Klang Elektronik, Minifunk, Boozo Music, as well as his own imprint Higlamm Phonographics. 

This double compilation aims to capture the wide range of styles Alex has produced: from ambient, downtempo, and IDM (Elipse, Mare Nostrum, Butterfly) to NYC and Detroit-influenced house music (I Wanna Look To The Stars, Incognita, Can Make It) to minimal techno and early tech house (Planetarium, Twirl, Firewall), Alex has navigated an immense variety of styles, consistently maintaining a highly personal sound of impressive quality for someone so far removed geographically from the main centers of creation at the time.

Album comes with a double-sided insert with a photo of young Alex himself and liner notes from the artist and label owners. All tracks are officially licensed from the artist and remastered from the original DAT tapes by Simon Davey at The Exchange (London).

‘We’re Going Deep’ is a new label run by an old head- Paul Wise, better known as Placid to many who inhabit the realms of underground House and Techno.

Born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of deep electronic rhythms coupled with a thirst for collecting records since 1988, the label mission is all about releasing new music for the dance floor, front room or even just your headphones.

Rather than staying too hung up on the past, Paul’s reputation for digging deep into Acid, Electro, Techno, Deep House and even the odd slice of downtempo precedes him, as he readies the second instalment on his imprint. Picking up where WGD 001 left off, he’s both humbled and pleased to be able to invite 4 more exceptional artists to show off their finest waveforms.

Volume 2 starts the dance with a sterling contribution from Dublin’s very own machine maestro Cignol, “Night Time Traverse”. Proving once again why his flair for combining tight metronomic drums, wistful melody, blissed out strings with a twist of 303 is second to none: unmistakably tight, unmistakably good. Followed by some heavy head nodding action courtesy of new kid on the block, Armec, he’s already scored 2 fantastic releases under his belt. Fully repping the next generation of mancunian machine enthusiasts, he delves deep into the seedy underworld of deepest and darkest electro with ice cold aplomb on “Celestial Mechanics”.

Hit the flipside and you’ll find Acid aficionado Jared Wilson (who should be no stranger to most) leading the charge as he whips up a storm with a tweaked 303 takeover, led by a mesmerising chord that runs throughout – he works his magic once again in fine style. Last but not least, the dulcet tones of Bristol’s very own best kept secret Gilbert lands another sumptuously deep slab of techno with “Signs of Hope”. Leading with a pleasantly addictive bassline, this beautifully structured whistful symphony oozes warmth and tranquillity as he takes a trip to the light fantastic.
