"Written for Carlo's cousin who died in a factory accident. We recorded it in 
one take at dawn, all of us exhausted and drunk, sitting in a circle around a 
single microphone like it was a campfire. Tommaso cried through the entire bass 
line. You can hear it in how he plays. The birds singing in the background are 
real—the church had broken windows and pigeons living in the rafters. Carlo 
said the dead prefer love songs to prayers. I believed him that morning."
