Not too many artists choose to envelope themselves into their craft, L.E.S native Zaquan does just that. He started expressing himself from the time he was 5 years old. Drawing and doodling on pieces of paper, instead of doing his school work. At 6 years old, Curtis Blow's Rappers Delight would forever change the world and Zaquans destiny. Listening to Red Alert and Chuck Chill out inspired him to want to be a DJ. But pen and paper was a lot more cost effective then technic 1200 so in 1984 he started writing rhymes and discovered a talent for writing.

Even after attending college for visual communications Zaquan hadn't given up his dream to rock the microphone. He started hitting up open mics and the rhyme chyphers after the open mics as well but the beats kept on calling him. Frustrated with the rhyming he decided to start writing poetry and in 1995 Zaquan bought a computer and started making beats. He fell in love with Hip Hop all over again staying up all night and day, practicing and perfecting the skills of beat making. Soon he was hitting up the chyphers with a boom box instead of rhymes. He knew he had found his calling and never looked back ever since.

Over the years, Zaquan has evolved as an artist. He produces, records, mixes, arranges, play the bass and do fine arts and graphic design.

"For me it's all about the positive energy we all possess and can share with each other to grow. I want people to hear, feel, see and touch every song that I do. Every beat I make seems to have its own unique identity. I developed this unique style of production just by deciding to be myself".

Indeed Zaquan is one multitalented individual who has and will continue to use his gifts to help sway the ways of the world in a positive direction.
