AM: Heyo! What have you been up to recently? 

Hey! Mostly been working on music, recording mixes and spending time with family.

AM: We loved your EP for All Centre this year so much! Could you tell us a bit about the inspiration for it and the set up for it? 

Thank you - Super kind of you! For the EP, I didn’t really set out with a particular thing in mind. I guess late nights watching movies is the common thread - Rudnick was inspired by and named after a villain from the movie, Heavy Metal (1981) and Earthly Pleasures was inspired by the movie, Hellraiser (1987). Jet Black was me trying to make a song that sounded like falling into void and enjoying every minute of it. LOL. Setup wise, Love to All Centre who reached out to me and asked if I’d be down to do an EP for the label after featuring on their 2nd Anniversary compilation. Enjoyed working with them the first time so it made sense to do it again.


AM: The mix is wicked! Where and how did you record the mix & was there an idea or theme behind it?

Thanks and I’m glad you like it. The mix was recorded in my apartment in Lusaka (the capital city of Zambia). I recorded the mix using my old Numark controller and Serato. The idea behind it was to still do something focused on rhythm and the club but a warped/broken version of that.


AM: What have ay been listening to & digging recently?

Strict Face - Pulsers (EP), Money Lang - Trevino Mare Mixtape, Míchell Cuartas - Delicate & Strong (EP), the recent Don Toliver album and lots of The Time (I’m a huge fan of the Minneapolis Sound).


AM: Whats next for ya?

Got more mixes coming and I’m currently working on demos for a couple of labels so hopefully you’ll be hearing from me a bit from me in the New Year. Keeping my fingers crossed for a couple of shows as well.

Paris has been a city closely linked with electronic music for many years. It has acted as the birthplace of many a project, many a record label and many a sound. However, in recent times it has perhaps fallen into a trap of its own making in which Techno and Tech House has become supreme and somewhat domineering. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with this but it's always nice to rock the boat...

That's where Sylvere comes in, a producer on the rise he focusses on fast paced, heavy hitting bass inspired music more akin to that of early soundsystem culture in the UK. Think dubstep meets jungle meets grime meets gqom meets classic techno and everything in between.

Over the past two years he has made a home for himself on Monkeytown Records, the prolific label run by Modeselektor. This is praise in and of itself and joining a ranks of a label which has released some of the most innovative in electronic music over the past ten odd years shows that he might just be on to something. We certainly think so anyway...

This mix is as exciting as they come, a rare glimpse into the booming sound of underground Paris and a statement of intent...
