This is a project that I was asked to do I guess sometime in the early 2000's . It was a remix for a Bob James project . the idea was to take an existing piece of work and flip it . So this was my flip . I had Pete Miser come in and do some vocal snippets . I never knew what happened to the project but I did put a lot of work into this mix so I figured I would share it . Enjoy , Prince Paul unreleased series .

Brooklyn based jazz singer and songwriter, José James is the rising star of the next generation of contemporary music. Since the release of his Equinox demo back in 2006, James' forge his reputation by collaborating on record with a wide assortment of jazz and hip-hop acts, including, Nicola Conte, Toshio Matsuura, Jazzanova, J.A.M. (SOIL & "PIMP" Sessions), Junior Mance, DJ Mitsu, Basement Jaxx, Flying Lotus, Chico Hamilton, Jef Neve and Timo Lassy. To honour the eclectic style of José James, I’ve put together some track from his original album and his collaboration with the artist named above.

This is the latest installment in my Soul Supreme series. Not a "traditional r&b" mix; more what I would call Future Soul or something. Focus is on giving some lesser-known yet still super talented artists some burn while maintaining the same "sound" throughout the mix. Anyways, just a laid back mix you'd relax to with a cup of coffee, clean the house to, play at work without worrying about offending anyone, put on during a sunny drive, etc. Hope you dig it.

It's been a full cycle around the sun since Benny Tones' album, 'Chrysalis' was released internationally on BBE Records and since then, Benny has made a few orbits around the globe of his own.

Benny's intrepid musical adventures have seen him perform and engineer for New Zealand's Electric Wire Hustle in such exotic locales as the infamous English midland, mud slinging, awe inspiring Glastonbury Festival and a dusty Texan bar after sundown amidst the musical rodeo known as Austin's SXSW, among many more.

And what does an audio enthusiast collect on his travels? Beats of course. Benny has collated his own digital album of audio mementos in the form of 'Chrysalis – The Remixes', a collection of 30 remixes from the freshest producer talents across the globe including, fLako (England), Opiuo (Melbourne), B.Bravo (San Francisco), AD Bourke (Rome), Tayreeb (Paris), Comfort Fit (Berlin) and New Zealand's own, TRUTH, Alphabethead, Sola Rosa and Christoph El Truento to name a few.

"It has been a real journey collating so many crazy remixes from people I have met all around the world. I ended up with so many I loved I couldn't decide which ones to include, so I thought I would just do one huge release of 30 remixes! It's an incredible collection of music, from so many different genre's and styles and I am so happy to finally be able to release it into the world." says Benny.
