As for many people in the mid late 90s, Metalheadz sessions at the Blue Note and their subsequent nights at places like the Leisure Lounge and sets at the Essential Festival etc were hugely influential on me. I've got fond memories of going up to London, hearing the music that sounded so incredibly futuristic at the time (and still sounds fresh today) and record shopping in the various shops and markets.

A mix I recorded in anticipation of Exit 10th Birthday 2013 @ Fire.
A monumental night with Doc Scott bringing a truly amazing dubplate set.

For this mix I intended to pit some of the labels’ (perhaps) lesser played tracks against each other. But in the end it became impossible to ignore a few rinsed anthems, so in they went.

Law - Metalheadz Vs Prototype Mix

Second of the 5K celebrations, final mix of the year: a re-imagined, alternate Platinum Breakz ... inverted, if you will. Forgive the Tenet reference :)

The starting point here was Lemon D's This Is LA, a bonus track from the US PB1 release, which would have made it into the first mix had I realised in time. Choosing the rest was a piece of piss, but that 'exclusive' element provided by Unofficial Ghost et al was missing - so the selection is bolstered with a couple of unreleased dubs that emerged more recently on Infra-Red and Deep Jungle (Your Sound VIP is a no-brainer, and I'm sure Another Dimension was  destined for Headz). Add to that a few Razor's Edge joints and some classic Rufige Kru flavour - Manslaughter '96 (cheekily borrowed from Reinforced, as it first appeared on the flip of the Metropolis dubplate), and the mighty Fury from Saturnz Return - and we're good to go. Let's skirt over the fact Pressin' On came out on PB2, Hidden Agenda deserve a couple of spots this time around. The final line-up:

In 2007 I was lucky enough to be asked to be asked to play at a Detonation event celebrating 8 years of the massive club night, Detonate. It was a history of drum and bass special at the legendary Marcus Garvey Centre venue in Nottingham, UK. I played a set representing the 90's logical progression sound and had an amazing time.
