A commodity you sold.

or a story you misheard.

Ignoring the rich fields of gold.

A momentary lapse,
To behaviours of the past.
Pay the ferryman with coins that you had stole.
A pointless collector of souls.
A phoney masquerade,
A throw off to the shade.
Your tactics are excused now, on the whole.
Felt rung out and wrought by the goal.

Taken, locked away, a never-ending scream.

Squandered on a stupid capitalist scheme.
