With 23 tracks to choose from, there's no faulting the value for money offered by this summer compilation from London's Slightly Transformed label. Such an extensive tracklist also offers plenty of scope for stylistic variety, with tracks ranging from laidback, groovesome boogie/soul jams like opener 'What Are We Gonna Do' to the mellow Balearic haze of 'Summer In The City', via the strident 80s attitude of 'Edgy', the looping filter disco of 'Something About Love', the authentic-sounding Blaxploitation funk of 'Mac And Carly Go Uptown', the Zapp/Cameo-isms of 'Firebabe' and even a bossa nova cover of Bill Withers. Serve poolside, accompanied by several mojitos, for maximum impact!

If you're a fan of DJ Supermarkt's 'Too Slow To Disco' series you'll want to to check for this new three-tracker from Ben Jamin immediately, because the Liverpool-based producer - who's racked up releases on the likes of Hot Gorilla, Discoholics Anonymous, Hot Digits and, yes, Too Slow To Disco - captures that mid-70s yacht rock and Quiet Storm soul vibe perfectly. The title track is a sleek, sophisticated slow jam with jazzy overtones - if you'd told this writer it was a long-lost Captain & Tenille cut, I'd have believed you! - while 'Destiny' treads a more straight-up disco path and 'I'm Dancing' drops down into a low-slung funk groove, but you'll have to pick your own standout here... all three are so good that picking a favourite seems a tad redundant!

There's much to admire on this first full outing from newcomer Ferdinand Debeaufort, whose only previous outing was a sole track on Slightly Transformed's recent Summer Numbers 2020 compilation. By and large, the re-edits are bouncy and floor-focused, with the lavishly named Debeaufort adding a bit more percussive pressure to a variety of disco-centric cuts. He starts in confident mood with a brilliantly chopped-up and rearranged version of an old Fantastic Aleems cut ('Funny Feeling'), before dancing his way through a rubbery disco-boogie number (the synth-sporting 'Make Love'). Elsewhere, 'Casou' is a killer version of a mid-80s French synth-boogie number, 'Can't Do It Alone' is a horn-sporting disco celebration built around short, subtly changing loops, and 'Show Me How' is a low-slung treat.

After a barnstorming, blistering debut with us on Sprechen, Danny Russell & Ronald Christoph return with a follow up of more shoulder jerking & body shuffling inducing selections of chopped up disco house grooves on 'The Love Rescue E.P.'

Disco edits done right are the order of the day here across these 3 tracks, Love Rescue is one for the double handclap and group sing-a-long crew with snappy horns & rapid guitar strums alongside some clever rearrangement by the guys which makes this a big number!

'You Can Do It' defo jumps out of the disco and into the house...specially selected 2 bar & 4 bar loops with a stomping kick drum and a dub delay drenched vocal break resulting in a straight up peak time floor filler that wears its Roulé influence firmly on its sleeve.

'Night Dancer' boards the train to Italy and goes straight to Baldelli's Cosmic Club in all its arp synth glory. Add to that some smarmy little synth stabs & various other dubbed out cuts here & there before a HUGE vocal breaks right through and cements this one as an absolute banger!
