In-demand, groove-fuelled producer Opolopo and 24 Carat singer-songwriter Angela Johnson introduce brand new single Buffalo on Reel People Music, the second single to precede their eagerly awaited album Best of Both Worlds due later this year. 

Best of Both Worlds is simply feel-good music that’ll ‘make you want to dance…move… maybe love on somebody’. Buffalo is an immediate proof point, infectious percussion and scat play chopping between deep down synth-bass and cosmic jazz-funk solos (courtesy of Reel People Music label cohort, Kaidi Tatham) before firing euphorically into full-on 4-4 groove.

Stockholm-based DJ-producer Opolopo (real name Peter Major) can boast two decades’ worth of productions right across the soulful dancefloor spectrum for labels such as Local Talk, Z Records and Defected. His remix discography includes Gregory Porter, Jungle, Leroy Burgess and Mother’s Favorite Child. NYC native Angela Johnson was a member of acid jazz group Cooly’s Hot Box before enjoying solo success via a string of acclaimed R&B albums including They Don’t Know, It’s Personal and Naturally Me. During the Noughties, Johnson featured on Reel People singles Can’t Stop, In The Sun and You Used To Hold Me So Tight.

Buffalo is another slam dunk for two exceptional artists with much more to come. It’s also a continuation of Reel People Music’s incredible discographic run. Borne out of the success of acclaimed collective Reel People in 2009, the label has built a fiercely loyal international fanbase through its passion for artist development, musicianship, song-craft and soulful groove.

It’s always a treat when 2fox comes through with fresh material, and this time, the dynamic duo presents the remix package for their standout single “So Long” on Soul Quest Records. Known for their infectious grooves and deep, soulful melodies, 2fox—comprising Soul Quest label head Max Sinàl and Ivor Novello-winning composer Renell Shaw—bring a unique vibrancy to house music, blending heart, rhythm, and melody in a way that’s impossible to ignore.

The original “So Long” is a testament to the duo’s mastery of their craft, driven by a skipping rhythm section that creates a bedrock for sharp melodic sequences and a bassline that sings with sweetness. Add to that the exceptional vocal performances from Liam Bailey and BB James, and you have a track that resonates deeply, layering soulful narratives over grooves that can keep any dancefloor alive.
