The second release on Declassified carries on from where I left off with DCLSFD001, once again setting out to merge the UKG / 2-step framework with my influences from Drum & Bass and Dubstep. I originally wrote these four tracks with a view to releasing them as a double pack, but after some thought split the EP into 2 singles. Test presses for DCLSFD003 have just been approved, and I’m currently working on the fourth release for the label. Bristol based producer Daffy has been making noise for quite some time now but none more than the past 18 months. Producing for around 12 years now he’s finally getting his flowers with releases on Time Is Now, ec2a, Southpoint, Vivid and Hot Haus, and being called upon for the official remix of the iconic ‘Ripgroove’ by Double 99 earlier this year.

With things finally hitting full flow for over a decade after he started his journey into producing, support has come from the likes of Skream, DJ EZ, Redlight, Smokey Bubblin’ B, Emerald, DJ Q and plenty others. Furthermore, he’s connecting the dots for the triple crown of releases, support and shows, with appearances at the likes of Hidden, Motion, Lakota and Fabric pushing him firmly through the very noisy underground UKG scene as of right now.

With the scene seemingly taking a twist toward the original Speed Garage sound over the past year, theres no better person to step into the limelight than someone who’s looked up to the likes of Sheffields Big Ang for years as an inspiration, who’s recently been getting her own flowers after Interplanetary Criminal has been letting the people know with his new found fame.

As we approach the half way point of 2023, Daffy makes his entrance on 1Forty with a track entitled ‘Euphoria’ that follows suit of the Summary tones set by Ghoulish and Lollie on the lead track, but with that deep Speed Garage bassline we’ve all come to recognise from Daffy’s output.

Slime welcomes Cellardore to the label for his first full release on the imprint with the ‘303’ EP. Over the past few years the Bristolian producer has been tearing up clubs across the country and beyond with his energising amalgamation of garage, breaks and techno. Always experimenting with the defined boundaries of genres, he represents one of the freshest talents around in the current scene and proves that new and interesting forms of music can be generated from the template of garage.

‘303’ comes correct from the gate with a deadly garage jam that will be destined to destroy dancefloors everywhere regardless of genre affiliations. Dark and moody but packed full of funk, the gargantuan bassline propels the track forward with sinister intent across oscillating acid lines for something wholly unique within the UKG sound, merging elements of breaks and acid into the mix for a devastating kill-shot rhythm that will be a must for any discerning DJ.

‘Back In The Day’ sees the producer collaborate with two of the best garage MCs around in Marvel and Stavros for a nostalgic roll out that straps the flow of both lyricists onto a bubbling 2-step groove. Pure party vibes make this one sound like a forgotten classic from the golden era of UKG, but with fresh bars and a forward-thinking perspective bringing it bang up to date for the next generation of ravers.

‘Freedom’ brings fellow production powerhouse Mind Of A Dragon along for the ride with an incendiary collaboration that is an anthem in the making. Cinematic chords and soulful vocals create an ecstasy-drenched atmosphere that draws for the old skool rave sound before dropping into a future-proof garage roller that is close to perfection.
