Two Meanings for It

I recently received a digitized copy of my old family VHS tapes. While watching them I was struck with a strange feeling, between nostalgia and a sadness for what could have been. This song in particular references a natural spring in my hometown, at the top of a hill my family would walk up on weekends. The chamber housing the well had a natural reverb that echoed the cool trickling of water. I combined those sounds with soft piano hoping to recapture one of those calm afternoons.

A bed of warm synth pads is built upon by rising tinkling piano. This all culminates in a lush saxophone release, dripping with reverb.

I hope listening to this ambient track is like opening a dusty cardboard box full of memories.

Pope Panda

I lived the first decade of my life in the shadow of the Malvern Hills. This single is the ending to my upcoming album, and is named for the highest point of the hills, The Beacon. It starts with a rhythmic loop, much like the early steps of a climb. Slowly shifting into a whirling drone, culminating in a calm piano of the previously fragmented melody. I hope that the music in this piece, can echo the notion that with time, our memories can be seen as parts of a whole, and shine in a new light.
