I'm originally from North of the UK, now living in Berlin making beats

     With deep roots in music and DJ culture, James Davis (SlmJmm) has been designing specialized mixes that help music fans forge emotional connections to music and use songs to bookmark their memories for nearly two decades. James’ work is inspired by the ability that legendary DJs such as Jazzy Jeff and DJ AM have had to personally interact with their audiences and bring their deep passion for music to various stages and club environments. He has perfected the art of staying flexible and of communicating the intricate layers of each tune he shares, and has incorporated this musical mastery into his individual routine, so he is able to maneuver any crowd, whether in a club setting or at a private party or event. Since the early 2000s, James has had engagements at a variety of venues throughout Pennsylvania, including Whistles Pub, Colosseum Nightclub & Lounge, Shiro, State Street Grill, and Club Evolution, where he currently has a residency. James’ sets have additionally become a staple in the college market, and he regularly hosts events at both the University of Scranton and Marywood University. He has also done a variety of guest DJ sets on college radio with the internationally-touring DJ Woogie.

     On the road to discovering his unique voice as a DJ, James has experimented with everything from hip hop, to classic rock and pop and now focuses on the house and dance genres. He mingles his love of ‘80s and rock with the joy he feels when his exclusive blends compel people to just dance and forget everything but the power of the music. He fully immerses himself in his art, spending his spare moments staying ahead of the trends by exploring the latest DJ equipment and music tech gadgets. James brings his understated ability to read and control a crowd, his unmatched technical skills and ability to respond to his dance floor with sensitivity to every performance, and shapes each music mix into an experience that is universal yet also deeply personal.
