The ill.Methodology made iTunes, Beatport, JunoDownload and Addictech Top 10 charts so we had to do the tunes justice when choosing remixers, the result is this coming series featuring top producers in a range of genres. At this point it’s easy to say ill.Gates is one of the most dynamic ‘mover and shakers’ in Electronic music, being a man at the forefront of production with tunes that have made the Top 10 Charts on iTunes, Beatport, Addictech, JunoDownload and many more, he has also been one of the leading Ableton template developers for production and performance for many years and the number of touring Glitch Hop and Dubstep artists (including the likes of Bassnectar) that he as either helped with their production / performance setup or collaborated with (Datsik, Mimosa, Beats Antique, Filastine, Opiuo ... ) or merely inspired them to get of their ass and create something, it is now an understatement to say ill.Gates is a creative force to behold and impossible to pigeonhole.

From the cloud covered peak of the world’s highest mountain to the crowded streets of Kathmandu, more than 8,500 people have perished in what has become the deadliest disaster to ever strike the small but densely populated nation of Nepal. As the globe still reacts to the earthquakes that have left thousands buried beneath rock and rubble over a three week period of initial strikes and aftershocks, Be Green Records and Street Ritual have teamed up to bring you a benefit album aimed at the heart of Nepal’s stricken population. 

Featuring a lush mixture of deep bass rhythms, healing sonic textures and earth drawn sounds sown with modulated funk beats and classic instrumentation, the Nepalese Relief Benefit Compilation will directly support relief efforts in Nepal while illustrating sound and art’s power to heal in a physical realm as well as that of perception. 

Proceeds from the album will be directed to conscious relief organizations already on the ground, allowing the album and its contributors to make a greater impact on aid efforts with each purchase.

钟鼓馔玉不足贵，但愿长醉不愿醒。
鼓作为一种宫廷庙堂祭祀的古老乐器，很早便流传于我国历朝，早在诗经中便有“窈窕淑女，钟鼓乐之”的记载。
几千年后鼓这件经历了不断演变兴衰的乐器再次被赋予了不一样的色彩。中国传统打击乐与Bass舞曲相互融合，在西方音乐极具线性结构的曲式中，蕴藏的是以方圆为形、以柔克刚为神的强烈精神内核。
同样是传统元素，如果上一张专辑《擒豹记》源于我们童年武侠梦的回忆，《狮鼓鸣》则是对民间历史的一次探索。整张专辑中大量采样了中国民间传统音乐，像是剥开了华夏土地上众多民族迷雾，试图用更加未来的视角去还原每一次鼓被击响的场景。

Mostly known as the pioneer of the global bass genre, David Starfire comes to Gravitas Recordings with his newest musical creation, Future Self. Influenced by the culmination of his musical training and experiences with orchestras, marching band, sound design, EDM, and world music, David nods toward his years of music production to create a familiar, yet divergent release through three collaborative tracks and three innovative remixes. Throughout Future Self, David's artistry stems from areas such as Bulgaria, the Middle East, Australia, India, and Africa to transport listeners into a cinematic and ethereal universe that merges with dubstep, trap, and global bass sounds.

Opening up the EP with a 2,000 year old “Vishnu” mantra from the temples of India, David Starfire and featured Mumbai vocalist Shri pay respects to the principal deity of Hinduism as powerful 808s are launched. David collaborated with Bulgarian vocalist Sonja Alexandra Drakulich, from the internationally acclaimed world music ensemble StellaMara, in “Izgrejala” to merge heavy trap music with cinematic theme music. Instrumentation from master oud player Jef Stott and Australian world-renown didgeridoo player Ganga Giri are presented in “Osho,” which gradually accelerates from a steady rhythm to expeditious global dubstep intended for the dancefloor. For the first remix off of the EP, Boston’s Zebbler Encanti Experience teleports David’s ethnic “Primal (feat. SOOHAN)” into space. Fellow ethno-group DISSØLV fulfills its mission to stimulate minds and ears with its remix of David and Justin Terranova’s “This Sound.” Wrapping up the EP, Baltimore/Los Angeles global bass producer SOOHAN presents a fast-paced and lively remix of David’s song, “Jungle (feat. Patrick D).”

To truly capture the cinematic universe that Future Self resides in through its cover art, David Starfire enlisted the help of digital artist Beeple, who has notably worked with artists such as Imagine Dragons, Louis Vuttton, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Zedd, Taio Cruz, Amon Tobin, Wolfgang Gartner, and more.
