The established heavy hitting outfit, Nicepeople, kick things off for 2022 in true style. Dropping early next year is their latest slice of house heaven, the package comes in the shape of three originals from Gourment De Funk, and a nostalgic "Chicago Boogie'' trip with the legendary Roy Davis Jr. Sounds good already, right?

Title track "A Love Supreme" initiates proceedings on the A side, slick percussion teases you into a journey of funk bliss, warm and infectious bass taking you on a cruise, with feel good strings all working in sweet harmony to make this a must have record. On a more driven tip is "The Way You Move" another animated groove experience, and boasts some smooth sax action for the fans amongst us.

Roy Davis Jr’s "Chicago Boogie" remix of "The Way You Move" is an upbeat number for the peak time dance floors out there. The irresistible bass totally takes over your movements, you can not help but to move to a track like this, the veteran producer certainly not letting us down with this one, fitting the ethos of the label, and yet crammed with the signature sound we have all come to adore from Roy over the years. Closing off the EP is the "Never Lost (GDF Morning Dub)". Seductive deep house for the early morning dancers. One for the dreamers.

Nicepeople never seem to take the pedal off the gas, consistently pushing their brand and propelling top shelf house music from an array of inspiring producers of old and new, and they begin next year exactly as they mean to go on.

Brooklyn-based label toucan sounds’ latest project, Playground Compilation Vol. 3,  is a staggering, 17-track compilation featuring some of the most exciting new names in the New York electronic underground. All recorded out of toucan sound’s Brooklyn studio, You Too Can Woo, this compilation sees both newcomers to the label, like John Barera, Laenz, Matt Fx, Escaflowne, and regulars such as Haruka Salt, Shifting Gears, musclecars, and Toribio, bringing the heat and carrying the torch for New York dance music. The result is a kaleidoscopic portrait of the city’s vibrant underground dance community. Kicking the project off is first-time toucan sounds guest, fleet.dreams, with his anthemic, melodic slice of tropical house, “can’t stop the moment”. The song serves as a fitting introduction to this massive compilation, with the main ear-worm refrain, “This is how we do it from the Brooklyn side”, serving as a kind of rallying cry for the rest of the tracks that follow. Everything about this opening track is energetic, unabashed, jubilant, and just damn fun. Its spunky attitude and brash confidence feel very akin to the spirit of the city itself. The track is replete with bongos, handclaps, truncated synths, an undeniably funky bassline, and layered ‘80s-sounding vocal samples which feel like they could have been ripped straight out of a long-lost Run DMC hidden gem.The effect here is a kind of filtering of New York music culture– namely the golden age of hip-hop and funk– into ecstasy-inducing modern dance music. This song is a great opening and encapsulation of the unbridled energy which each of the other tracks on this compilation build upon and harness to their own unique and delightful ends.

Felipe Gordon comes back to Toy Tonics. The Colombian musician, producer and DJ has been part of the TT label crew since 2017 when he released his debut "Teusaquillo EP". Since then, Felipe has made a huge career. He made a second EP for Toy Tonics (Wait On Me, 2020) he now releases on labels such as Heist Recordings, Kai Alce’s NDATL, Clone Royal Oak, Phonica Records, Shall Not Fade and was featured on Cinthie’s DJ Kicks.

With his third  EP on Toy Tonics, Felipe now takes a next big step in his artistic development.
He's been working for some months now on a new and organic path, a different way of vocal house. He started working with a talented young Colombian singer called “Bob The Egoist” AKA Daniel Pardo. Bob is a young Berklee degree student with a deep and emotional voice, an amazing knowledge about the classic soul and RnB and a clever and enthusiastic way of writing chord progressions, you will hear his name more often than you can imagine in the next coming months.

This new Felipe Gordon EP has a more organic driven feel, and is definitely a vocal house record. With a lot of classic 1990s house feel, but still not sounding retro at all. It has a slight futuristic feel. Besides the great vocal ideas`, the tracks are based on amazing chord progressions that remind the jazz-funk music from the early 1970s. Rhodes and clavinets, wah wahs and a nasty, soulful atmosphere. Felipe did some heavenly synth work, creating music with a deep yet funky character - always punchy and analog. Felipe’s production style seems to be exploring new grounds.

The music was recorded in only 2 weeks in December 2021. And probably that’s one of the reasons why these tracks don't sound over-produced. The instant, rolling feel gives the songs its special character.

Felipe has a European DJ tour coming from June till July, so catch him somewhere near your city!
