Hailing from Warsaw in Poland and now residing in Adelaide, Australia, Subjoi has been gaining steady traction in the House scene over the past five years, racking up releases on the likes of clipp.art, Shall Not Fade’s Lost Palms sub-label, Lobster Theremin sub-label Distant Hawaii and 13th Hour amongst others. Here we see him joining the roster of SlothBoogie Records with some more soul-infused and sun-drenched house cuts.

The light was fading slowly in the distance, an orange sky was all that was left to illuminate the evening before darkness fell. They sat perched atop the hillside, looking out over the water down below and wondered if there might ever be a moment as special and peaceful as this again.

Perhaps it was the feeling of her hand in his, perhaps it was the way in which she smiled and leant her head upon his shoulder. He felt as if he might never be so warm inside again. It were as if god himself had looked down from the heavens above as if to say “I see you”…

Finally the sun drifted beyond the horizon and the wind began to blow softly as the first breath of night loomed in. With her, he was not afraid of the dark.

Henrik Villard releases a new EP on True Romance, a beautiful record which tugs at the heartstrings leaving us all nostalgic for the summer which has just passed. It’s hard to create music which sparks such emotions, a rare treat.

Heist Recordings has been pushing the envelope for house music since day one and we're always on the lookout for artists that represent our vision on electronic music. Our next guest on the label fits that profile and more. He is the embodiment of modern-day electronic funk and a true wizard on the keys: Atlanta raised cool guy Byron the Aquarius.

Going back to classic house mode, we've got 'Success': A spoken word house track that fits right in with the classics. Byron sets the mood with some bumpy key-and synth work while brainstorming about originality and blackness throughout the track. Even though the message underneath might be a serious one, Byron succeeds in delivering this in a fun, uplifting way that never gets pretentious or divisive.

Tiptoes makes a welcome return to SlothBoogie Records this November with a fresh four-track EP, entitled ‘The Akai Samurai Strikes Again’.

Glasgow’s Tiptoes has long been a respected name in the Scottish electronic music circuit, bringing his eclectic style to the table as a DJ, blending everything from jazz to jungle, house to techno, garage, broken beat and many more genres. His productions are a nod to his many influences and once again with this EP were treated to an amalgamation of sounds. The project follows on from his recent acclaimed EP on Darius Syrossian’s Moxy Music entitled ‘Cuss Tomato’.

‘Techno Woo’ leads the way and see Tiptoes embracing a filter house feel, merging a number of choppy funk licks, vocal chants, and bass lines in an ever-unfolding dynamic matter, while dusty drums carry the bouncy groove throughout. ‘Brotherman’ then tips the focus on to soul drenched guitar lines, brass melodies, snaking bass grooves and hypnotic vocal lines alongside loose, swinging percussion.

Opening the flip side is ‘Mars Landings’, embracing a deeper house aesthetic courtesy of hazy Rhodes chords,
swelling vocal loops and organic drums before ‘Strings’ rounds things out, as the name would suggest the
composition is built around expansive string melodies, gritty bass stabs and sturdy, thunderous drums.
