Stuttgart native Sumo releases his debut EP on the legendary Sonar Kollektiv imprint. He’s a sound nerd, which stems from his early years playing the piano and guitar, and achieving a masters as a composer and sound designer. Today he designs sound on projects like Bjork’s Exhibition at MoMA in New York and for Mercedes in Berlin. Here on 'Yapasu' he serves up a deep and chunky wedge of deep bass stabs, punchy drums, wavy chords and pitched down vocal chop ups.

Whether they’re providing independent clothing brands, curating audio-visual events or running an in-store radio station, Mimm are well-renowned for supporting the local Nottingham scene in one way or another whilst striving to combine clothing, music and art for the independent mind. 
'Mimm Exploration Compilation Vol 2’ fuses an assortment of eclectic styles and we've chosen then downbeat jazz funk track by Coffee Club Boyz who's woozy synths, live bass, smokey trumpets and percussion sounds like it would be quite at home on Rhythm Nation. A superb compilation indeed.

On his self titled EP, Halfnelson turns his hand to disco, funk and jazz influenced house music, resampling his own instrumentation to create a sample world all his own. Opening the EP with Feel Out, we’re welcomed into a fuzzed but buoyant sonicsphere, where downtown NY style house meets 70’s disco psychedelia, tied together with vocal snips from The Last Poets. Halfnelson runs his own guitar, bass and percussion lines back through the sampler to crunch them up and bring that classic sample-house feel to the record.
