Delving into electronic music, ambient, surf-inspired electronica, Balearic, disco, and lots more, this is an artist who puts good energy and human connection above genre labels.

Since relocating to the German capital he has created unorthodox beats as part of the Marsimoto crew, delivered remixes for Parcels or Beatsteaks, released many successful tracks as a solo artists on his label 'Jirafa Records‘ (remixed by Echonomist, Paul Kalkbrenner, Fort Romeau & Magit Cacoon) and co-wrote a platinum-certified chartbuster on the side, with Marteria’s ‘Lila Wolken’. Also appearing on festival stages as diverse as Melt!, Fusion, Berlin Festival, and SXSW, as well as supporting WhoMadeWho & Major Lazor.

On the radio, or in the studio, on the road, or simply jamming and freestyling, Kid Simius makes music at the moment and for the moment. There’s no fakery or pretence, just pure, deep authentic love for music in its many beautiful forms.

With the Basement Boogieland fast approaching it felt only right to get the main man: Alan Dixon in for a feature on the mixtape series.

Recently getting regular Radio 1 airplay and being signed to Running Back, Permanent Vacation and Correspondant records, he’s certainly doing something right. 

He has long been a name on the edge of big-time success, marked out by many as one to watch by industry taste-makers uncluding Mixmag, Defected and Traxsource. 

After making a name with his disco edits and soulfuric gospel tracks, he’s made the move into pulsing big-room Italo anthems that are equal parts disco strut and peak-time breakdowns. 

With an established new peak-time synth sound championed by Danny Howard, Annie Mac and Pete Tong naming Alan’s ‘Edge of Forever’ release as their Essential New Tune, Alan is finally breaking through and getting noticed by all the right people. 

If this taster mix he’s provided us with here is anything to go by, he’s going to blow the roof off Kable for the Basement Boogieland on the 20th November. And we cannot wait!
