While Vir and I only met in person once (which was a hello/handshake at my OddBird theatre gig in New Delhi back in 2017) we've had a close musical connection as he'd released 2 killer forward-thinking EPs on Manjumasi. We've been chatting over the years sharing music and musings on life in general. At the start of the pandemic, I had a lot of musical drafts, but I wanted to push them to the next level in terms of edginess and sophistication, so I sent a few tunes his way to see if he was inspired. He bounced back with some outstanding ideas, and we tirelessly worked on molding these lumps of clay into a lump of wax.

Artistically and personally, it's been an absolute pleasure working with Vir and building our relationship - it took us two years to fully understand each other's approach + figuring out when to compromise and when to veto, so I see this EP as the first chapter in a story that's yet to be written.

I'm proud of our final product and floored by the absolute stormer remix from @christopherledger, another artist whose music is another dimension beyond the rest of the pack.

El productor argentino Cosmosolar regresa a Espacio CIELO con El Rarito, un lanzamiento que incluye dos originales y reworks de CYCLE y Calystarr—material pensado para la pista con pegada indie-dance y filo dark-disco. La fecha de salida es el 10 de septiembre de 2025. 

En su relectura, CYCLE tuerce la geometría del tema hacia un terreno más musculoso: bombos secos, bajos de goma que respiran entre compases y una línea de sintes que serpentea con tensión pop-noir. Argentinian talent Cosmosolar makes a vibrant return to the Espacio Cielo imprint with his “El Rarito” EP, a two-original offering that masterfully walks the line between the shadowy allure of Dark Disco and the rhythmic pulse of Indie Dance. Both the title track and "Rotorhead" are expertly crafted, built on a foundation of compelling percussion and polished, high-quality production that commands attention on the dance floor. The package is further elevated with impressive reworks from Spanish veterans CYCLE and the ever-innovative Calystarr.

For his interpretation of "Rotorhead," Calystarr expertly pivots the original's mood, trading some of its brooding intensity for a radiant, upbeat energy. He injects the track with a potent dose of early 2000s electronic flair, characterised by a shimmering, melodic lead synth that arcs euphorically over a relentless, driving bassline. For release number twenty-three on San Francisco's Manjumasi, label co-founder @mcslee returns with a new EP, his first original showing on the imprint since its debut release, his "Nocturne Belle" EP in 2016.

The "Grapeseed" EP features three original tracks, all with deep and mysterious elements that have become a marker of Slee's production style, as well as the broader Manjumasi label sound. First up is "Grapeseed", a haunting number built around a deep gliding bass riff with echoing bell melodies. The second track is Westvine, again featuring gently modulated bell elements in the lead, while dialing up both the shuffle and groove on a much more syncopated low-end. Finally, we have "Bitter Flower", which uses a super deep groove to set the foundation for classic synth elements with a modern twist. Acid-lines echo through the sonic space, alongside a nod to the classic M1 organ texture.

Alongside the originals is a diverse collection of outstanding remixes from highly respected producers. First up is Berlin's @acidpauli, who turns in an incredible deep and minimal interpretation of "Westvine". Here the focus is on solid bass and little organic details that grow gently through the mix, like tendrils into a brick foundation. Next is Seattle-based Jeff McIlwain, aka Lusine, who pulls the tempo of "Grapeseed" down to a very mellow 100bpm, the perfect pace for a deep bass burner that works its way steadily through an intense slow-mo crescendo. Finally, Birmingham's Tom Flynn takes aim more squarely at the dancefloor, with a proper ripping take on Bitter Flower. Driving synths and arpeggios recall the energy and euphoria of classic progressive house, but Tom's touch employs a more modern and sophisticated sound palette, expressing both melancholy and intrigue.

Manual Music's MNL label has been operating on the forefront of the progressive house scene ever since its inception in 2012. Now it's time to push the boundaries even further with 'Stop The Silence' by Aluria and Aman Anand - the labels' whopping 207th release!

Aluria and Aman Anand bring a proper underground warehouse vibe here. Deep chunky late night grooves, an infectious male vocal in combination with warm melodies make this an essential piece of forward thinking house music. And if you're not a fan of vocals then no problem; a dub mix is included as well.

To complete the single Australian progressive house maestro GMJ joins in on remix duties. It's his second appearance within the Manual Music family after last years immensely successful remix for Golan Zocher's 'Enter' single on Magnitude Recordings. He provides an interpretation that sounds less dark compared to the original, very funky and driving - a classic essential progressive house groover!
