Two seasoned French DJs/producers team up in a Parisian studio for a vibrant alliance destined at the more elusive dancefloors - vous avez dit disco noir?

Long-time chums Jerry Bouthier and Julien Plaisir de France met at the beginnings of rave and forged an enduring friendship based on mutual artistic respect as well as a fondness for absurd humour and all things 80s. Both went on to define their own path whilst regularly contemplating working together on a project, alas to no avail. Until recently when, on a whim, they cracked open the champagne in the studio, let the jokes flow and finally got down to it. Created on vintage tools, fat synths and classic drum machines ‘Eccitatissimo’ (the clue is in the name) throws hypnotic basslines, chorus guitars and frantic effects into the mix; a 120 BPM peak-time banger that pushes the right buttons, groovy yet trance-like with spaced-out breakdown.

Balearic player of the early Parisian rave/house scene (with late brother Tom), long since relocated to London, Jerry Bouthier eventually joined the dots between dancefloor and fashion as he became DJ stalwart of the Kitsuné label/clothing brand (owned by Daft Punk’s manager), touring around the world on the back of his residency at infamous London club BoomBox; whilst simultaneously maturing as diligent sound-designer for the fashion world (Vivienne Westwood etc), a craft - characterising moods - tailor-made for Jerry. Over the years he has created hundreds of soundtracks for the catwalks of London, Paris, Milan, NY and deejayed at the parties of some of fashion’s biggest names, yet still relishes his me time in the studio looking for the perfect beat/melody.

Having learnt the bass in his teens in the aim of joining his mates’ band, Julien Plaisir de France quickly caught the electronic bug, released his first 12”s on seminal Parisian house label Pro-Zak Trax and soon scored a club smash under his Sweet Light moniker with electro monster ‘Abusator’ (championed by 2 Many DJs, Tiga, Ivan Smaghe…). He renamed himself Plaisir de France and became a reference on the edit scene breathing new life in plethora of classics. Julien has just rounded off twenty years of music-making with the release of his debut album '#20’ celebrating timeless French electronic pop with the help of a motley bunch of stand-out vocalists and his own personal gallic twist. Still, true to himself, he remains a generous, eternally enthusiastic dj.

Jerry Bouthier: “We both love the original new wave/post-punk of yore, the sound of NY clubs such as Mud Club, Danceteria etc, when electronic instruments started to infiltrate studios and dancefloors. Futuristic music to dance to - obviously fed by disco - but also packed with attitude and interesting new sounds. A landmark in time… With Julien our musical trajectories crossed again thanks to the current dark disco thump that harps back to that golden era, it was the perfect moment to combine our inspirations and contribute to this scene that keeps on pushing the limits… A good occasion to spend time with Julien who makes you look at life with a smile, priceless!"

Julien Plaisir de France: “Sure, ‘Eccitatissimo’ is all about dancing… from the past to the future, from maximal to minimal! Jerry and I go a long way, our friendship has lived through various eras and music styles. We may share an appreciation for bands, our roots I guess. Our initial bond stems from having succumbed early on to the drive of the synthetic beat though. We never fail to value powerful ideas or inspired musicianship, hence the logic of combining our skills - my tendency to let sonic concepts run wild and Jerry’s no nonsense study of what makes bodies move - in order to deliver fresh, effective tracks

As a veritable poet at heart, the physicist turned music and film producer creates raw emotion through his melodies and lyrics inspired by his endless exploration of the world around him. The birth of his son marks his newest source of inspiration as he embarks upon the adventure of parenthood. 
The 6-track EP is a heartfelt and dreamy experience that features four original tracks with synth-pop, post-disco and progressive electronica elements, and two remixes for 'Oettam is Born' from Arnaud Rebotini and Íñigo Vontier. 
The bouncy electronica title track opens the EP with groovy drums, warm synth pads and a plucked bass line, while washed-out synth leads and airy effects give a cosmic ambience and a nostalgic feel. 'Flashback' is a dark and propulsive tune with rapid arpeggiated synth sequences layered with plucked bass and guitar. The energy increases with the dramatic guitars, noisy, industrial leads and driving drums on 'So Sprach Psychedelia' that reach an epic cinematic climax. The final track, 'Oettam is Born', is a softer, melodic piece with warm pads and chords, uplifting melodies and dewy leads. It is a celebration of Pyrame's profound experience as his son was born that inspires feelings of hope and joy. 
The first remix of 'Oettam is Born' comes from the legendary French artist Arnaud Rebotini, who strips the track of its plucked arpeggiators and bass lines and replaces them with chord pads and synth bass. Arnaud is one of the most emblematic figures in electronic music today having remixed songs for the likes of Depeche Mode, Rammstein, The Rapture, and Bloc Party. He was a member of the iconic electroclash band Black Strobe formed in Paris in 1997 and is a synth master known for his breathtaking live performances surrounded by his synthesisers. His ability to straddle genres and bring them together has allowed him to develop an avant-garde yet timeless sound, earning him the position of a central figure in the new international techno scene.
The second remix comes from Iñigo Vontier, an acclaimed contemporary DJ and Producer from Guadalajara, México, known for his mix of rough beats and cosmic sounds. Iñigo has been climbing in the international scene in recent years with support from artists like Solomun, Dixon, Chloe, Tiga, Maceo Plex, and Ame. He started his own label, Calypso Records, in 2017 with Thomass Jackson to promote other Latin American artists and earn them greater visibility. His remix of 'Oettam is Born' is a groovy cut with reverb-heavy hats, bouncy synths and layered children's voice effects that give a joyful and playful touch.
Pyrame will release his EP on October 7th via his label, Thisbe Recordings, inspired by Greek Mythology for a touch of surrealism, heritage and fantasy.

From passion and friendship was born @nouveaufutur
@neurotiker and @betty-b-69  are passionate about music, and their influences come from the 80’s.
Night owls, as they both describe themselves best. Their similar interest in music led them to collaborate by founding Nouveau Futur. Despite the distance that separates them as Neurotiker is based in Rio de Janeiro in, Brazil and Betty in Lyon in, France.

DJ since 1999, Neurotiker has developed his own style of music production, that ranges from techno to disco always with a retro feel to his music. He produced music since 2010 on labels such as Ritmo Fatale, Mélopée Records, Weirdos Records, Ulla Records, Polari Records...
He’s also founding his own label, OGIO Records.

Betty worked in the night life from the end of the 80's until 2005 in the trendiest clubs and bars of Lyon, as barmaid, party organizer, or bar manager. In 1995, she moved behind the decks and learnt to mix on vinyl. Even after leaving the night life, she returned to mixing utilizing the new
technological tools. She delivers club-oriented dance mixes tinged with indiedance and dark disco, while adding some new wave.

A fast rising star within Norway's cosmic-disco scene, Bergen producer Even Hymer Gillebo aka https://soundcloud.com/cavego returns to Eskimo Recordings with his 2nd EP, 'Dovregubben'. Featuring 4 tracks of shimmering, uplifting electronic music that can be enjoyed both at home and on the dancefloor, 'Dovregubben' revels in its playful sounds and shows exactly why the young Norwegian has already been tipped by the likes of BBC Radio 1, DJ Mag and Clash.

Where his critically acclaimed debut EP, 'Gudbrandsdalen', was inspired by the beautiful Norwegian landscape that he grew up in, 'Dovregubben' takes its cues from the region's culture with the EP's title itself a reference from Henrik Ibsen's famous work 'Peer Gynt'.

Opening with the track 'Rask Gange' Cavego quickly sets out his stall, a deep bubbling bass line, crystalline melodies and a driving disco beat perfectly captures the euphoria of speeding through the frozen landscape atop a snow-mobile, the sun rising above the horizon its rays catching and illuminating the snowflakes suspended in the air like a fragile, intimate, light show.

Named after a seductive Scandinavian forest spirit the EP's second track 'Huldra' adds soft diaphanous wordless chants to the mix capturing the golden haired creature's seductive cries to produce a truly magical, if eerie, song.

The EP's title track is up next and here Even has drawn inspiration from the titular Dovregubben ("the Dovre Giant"), the largest and at one time fastest locomotive in use in Norway. Built around a metronomic beat and looping synth arpeggios that echoes the feeling of speeding along the tracks through the wide open landscape between Oslo and Trondheim.

Finally to complete the EP we have the darkly euphoric 'Alfred (Og Vennene Hans)'. From a throbbing beatless intro, the track burst into life, pulsing with energy as Even harnesses the power of his enviable synth collection to dramatic effect, subtly adding further tones and textures as a looping guitar riff and percussive elements wind their way in and out of the mix.
