Number seventy nine comes from a friend of mine @jtarpey aka Roadkill. Jack and I met at a record store in Milan before Terraforma festival a few years ago and have always connected through our adjacent music tastes. 

Having run a show on Berlin Community Radio and playing often around Berlin, his talent and technical skill are clear throughout this mix in the most satisfying blend of dubstep and dub techno.. in his own words "connecting the dots between perlon, posh isolation and tectonic".  Genius.

Under an array of different names, with a nucleus of different collaborators, and moved by an even greater set of influences, Laurent Baudoux has been etching a critical place in Belgium’s music scene for over two decades. However, it’s under the wryly named alias of Lawrence Le Doux a.k.a. LLD that he’s finding a new audience and appreciation for his sunlit electronics all over again.

Modula’s ninth offering, the “Baila Conmigo” EP, finds label cornerstone Cosmosolar steering the ship with assured confidence. This five-track collection is a vibrant conversation, beginning with its collaborative title piece crafted alongside Mexico’s Tierra de Ovnis (SXDNS295). The original version of “Baila Conmigo” is joined by a VIP reinterpretation and a separate rework from the talented Argentinian producer, Balam (SXDNS048). The EP’s scope broadens further with the inclusion of “Bengala,” a Cosmosolar solo piece that also receives a transformative treatment from V.C.I., ensuring a rich and varied listening journey from start to finish.

Within this context, “Bengala” emerges as a fierce and focused statement. The track immediately establishes a compelling groove, a Latin rhythmic foundation that feels both warm and propulsive. Cosmosolar weaves a tapestry of retro-futuristic elements, where shimmering synth melodies dance against a backdrop of unexpected, wild samples. This combination crafts a deeply atmospheric and almost visual experience, suggesting vast, otherworldly plains. The production is dense and immersive, building with a palpable energy that culminates in a release felt deeply in the body and the heart, fully embracing the dance floor while inviting personal introspection.
