Le collectif Black(s) to the Future organise son premier festival sur l'afro-futurisme le 2 et 3 juillet au Petit Bain de Paris. A cette occasion, l'un des organisateurs, le Dj et ethnomusicologue Toni Polo, a préparé une mixtape avec certains des artistes présents lors de la soirée.  En plus de la musique, Black(s) To The Future Festival accueillera une exposition, des démonstrations de danse, projection de films, dégustation gastronomique ... Bref, une célébration des avant-gardes africaines, pour connaitre comment l'Afrique imagine l'avenir.

Dans ce voyage sonore vers l'Afrique digitale, on retrouve le producteur et MC sud-africain Mo Laudi, qui a participé à des projets aussi intéressants que Radioclit ou The Very Best et qui nous présente certains de ses propres productions et remixes pour Daniel Haaksman, Spoek Mathambo ou Calypso Rose. L'artiste pluridisciplinaire sénégalais Ibaaku nous fait découvrir quelques tracks de son disque Alien Cartoon publié récemment sur le label Akwaaba Music, dans lequel offre une vision futuriste de la ville de Dakar. Gato Preto, duo formé par le Dj et un producteur originaire du Ghana Lee Bass et la chanteuse du Mozambique Gata Misteriosa, montre toute son énergie dans la fusion originale entre Kuduro, Kwaito et afro-electro. Puis, le producteur franco-sénégalais, résidant à Bruxelles et fondateur du label La Brousse, Photo Romance, nous présente son répertoire inspiré par le Bass Global, la Tarraxinha et le Moombahton. Enfin, l’artiste angolais Lulendo  ferme ce voyage avec une mélodie portée par le lamellophone africain (aussi appelé Likembe, Kissage, Mbira, Sanza ...) vers de nouveaux territoires où l'Afrique du demain commence à s'entrevoir.

A fishbone which is stuck in the throat causes sharp pain in that location, which radiates to the ear with each swallow. Fishbones have been known to work it’s way through the esophagus and eventually (after months to years), into a heart or lung."
Italian based Low Manuel turns in a solid track for JP Soul's Roam recordings. unleashed on the stems is Brooklyn born Berlin based Curses who turns the track into a dark pulsating slow (ish) mo burner with menacing Morricone style guitars, a psychoactive top end percussion and more than a sprinkle of dark disco magic. 
Jagged and unnerving, it seems like another week another cracking Curses remix.

Fishbone

Orsery, Bawrut & Sooma and set out to define one of the most fundamental notions in music : rhythm. 

Slowciety’s fourth release is all about the rhythm. Think percussions and samples, prominent bass-lines and a mind distorting pattern switching modular synth. With main stage tracks and open air pieces, Le Rythme covers it all. On this first EP, two original tracks from Orsery are set alongside killer remixes by the likes of newcomers and on-the-rise DJ like Italian producer Bawrut, no less. Serious drops abound in every track to deliver this love-filled EP.

Olimpiada is a label that specialises in groove heavy slow motion big sounding dance tracks who last year released. Vlora Sun by Thomas Fruedenthal. Saka's latest track fits perfectly with the Tirana by way of Brighton outfit. Remix duties are covered by Tulioxi the Italian Stallion responsible for hits on Shara and Night Noise.
The result is a dream laden track full of live instrumentation, jazzy stabs and an irresistible groove accompanied by a gorgeous set of analogue sounds, guitar noises and a smooth as you like drum machine.
As winter warmers go, this one absolutely smells of the summertime. You can almost feel the breeze on your face as you hit play.

After 1 year since the release of the well reviewed "Fears and Dreams of Living Machines(Jst Records),the EP Remix of this latest work will be available on Nov 7TH by Italo Italians Records.
The ep included works by 2 minimal-disco monsters based in Barcelona, Juanjo Obon and Daniel Gregori, plus a catchy "Faster" Rmx by the Italian producer Attendances.Viky Montefusco closed the guest remixes with his slow edit of "Markens Grode".
Zero call put his touch with his autoremix of "Astrarium", alternative version of "Markens Grode"
and a 2019 Live version of "Mind Indstruction" taken from the "Living Machines Tour".

In this latest episode of Logical we wanted to focus on Azaria, pillar, regular artist of the label and head of Rec Division Studios studios, as we are about to embark into a different journey, the imprint wanted this EP to be something special, the first of the decade and the last of an era.

Kingpin counts with three brilliant original tracks full of energy, disco drums, slow techno, a little bit of catchy melodies and a of course the personal touch that always characterises the Spanish producer.
In the matter of the remixes we count with three special pieces, the first one comes by the hand of Javier Busto former boss label, giving us a psycho chugger remix of the track Kingpin, is full of all his usual weapons grounded on the 80’s and acid sounds.
The second one comes from the current head of Logical HQ, Ivan De La Rouch and Madrid Based music producer,  Mike Sacchetti soon to be part of of the A/R department. Reakt is a peak time track with rhythmic guitars and powerful bass, which makes it perfect for the dance floor.

And for the third remixer, we have Amsterdam based producer, Daniel Monaco, known for his releases on exquisite labels such as Bordello A Parigi or Slow Motion, a super great producer who brings all the quality for this last track called Concrete Funk.

Lumière Noire’s 30th release, the Esta Noche EP, brings together Italian-born, Mexico-based artist Rodion, a classically trained pianist known for his productions on Gomma, Eskimo and Roccodis co among others and Chilean artist Alejandro Paz of Coméme and Huntleys & Palmers fame, who is also a classically trained musician. The two artists met in Ciudad de México and quickly bonded over their similar backgrounds in classical music and their shared passion for harmony as well as a love for romantic music, no doubt due to the “latin roots” uniting Italy and Latin America.

The Esta Noche EP features three songs which are much more than mere tracks, with a distinctive Latinx feel and unapologetic new wave influences, accompanied by a phenomenal remix by the brilliant Fabrizio Mammarella from Italy.

Opening the EP with a nocturnal field recording shrouding the track in a dark haze, Esta Noche features an understated bassline with an analog feel, catchy stabs and a dance-inducing rhythmic section. As the song develops and it soon becomes evident that its new wave indebted mise en scène and dramatic arrangements set it apart from run of the mill productions.

Featuring the man behind EMET Records, a known purveyor of outstanding remixes, Esta Noche’s remix by Fabrizio Mammarella is an absolute belter, clocking at 110 BPM. With FM synths, pitched samples, elegant pads, melodic squeals, and a heavy, hard-hitting arpeggiated bassline, the spirit of late 80s EBM reigns supreme in this rugged and ruthless chugger, hypnotic and almost disorienting in its repetition. This remix is a reminder that you don’t need high tempos to yield maximal results on the dancefloor.

At 101 BPM, Una Vez Mas is a plodding anthem standing out with its gorgeous chord progressions, reminiscent of Shep Pettibone's cult remix for Depeche Mode. Full of feeling and emotion this is not a sleepy downtempo affair but rather a slice of heartfelt and yearning Latinx crooning with a proper verse, chorus and breakdown structure. Perfectly fit for darkly lit dancefloors.

Closing the EP, Dime Que No is a different kind of Spanish-language new wave-influenced number, with plenty of feels. On one hand, melodic elements including an analog bass synth, pad chords, and subtle stabs support the tune's heartfelt vocals, and on the other, dissonant percussive and melodic elements act as a counterpoint. The way these different elements coalesce gives a feeling to the song that is both melancholic and psychedelic, with both producers letting sensitivity and a certain kind of fragility slip through the cracks on this haunting closer.
