When I have to write about the selector who prepare us these emotionally expensive selections, they are mostly friends that we have made over the years thanks to the respect they awaken us with their musical tastes and obviously some things that make us feel that we are in The same vibes, without getting mystical. Giango was introduced to me by Grant Williams, head honchos behind the ace eclectics label. Literally, he told me, hey Santi, listen to this dude, he has music that you will love it and that's how it was, a friend of another friend and that's how we get together, particularly Giango's selections, in general, are very eclectic, something that I like a lot, especially when the genres are so different and despite that they end up making a palette of rhythms and melodies that is a single compact thing and that is Balearic, yes!. I am very grateful that you continue to listen to us and enjoy this selection of Giango that send us this from Ibiza. Enjoy this cup of tea!!

INTERVIEW WITH SFDM

Q: How did you prepare for this mix, and how would you describe the eventual result?

Hello boys, thanks for having us! Usually when we prepare a regular mix (with no "theme" or such) we try to be as wide as possible in terms of genre. we like our mixes to be something fluid and natural , evolving from track to track into a different mood or kind of sound,  from downtempo to uptempo (and sometimes back)
So our scheme usually is like this: we choose a bunch or records to create the spine of the mix and then adjust by substituting or adding other tracks until we reach the point when we enjoy playing it without having the feel "oh i miss something here". 
We are happy with the final result of this mix , hope listeners will enjoy the ride too!

Q: Is there a record in the mix that you associate with a special story?

We have a  strong bond with a lot of records we play, some have a story, many others don't. Most of the time is about feelings that records is capable of  giving to us. This mix has the peculiarity of containing few finds from "quarantine online digging" which is something we could never imagine to experience in our like (i mean the quarantine part). One of these special one is Madeleine Uzho - Satisfied. no better medicine to cheer up a day of lockdown that finding a good record like that for cheap.

Q: Do you have a special digging process and/or what kind of things do you look for in a record when you’re out digging?

We have no science behind this, when we go crate digging we try to look for different elements  that catches our attention like label, musicians involved, date, sometimes just artwork or logo. the step after is searching for a reference on YT or SC in case there's no record player at disposal (we do enjoy a lot flea markets so sometimes is just blind buying!). Online things are easier because of search filters : )

Q: Is there a record, that has continued to be in your wantlist over the years?

There are a lot of records always in the wantlist. first one i recall is  Unique - Sankofa

Q: Music bonds people together. Any local heros/parties you would like to shout out? 

We would like to shout out to all the nice guys and crews in Milan we've met along the road, especially Eternal Love, Luca from Rocket Radio and the crew of Polifonic for inviting us to play in their festival, unfortunately postponed to covid. we were so happy to be invited to play there, but who knows, maybe in the future we will! ; )

Musician, Dj, Digger, Radio Speaker, drummer and journalist,  360° involved into the Music Business since the 80's.
From Rome, David during this long musical journey had the chance to work with  many well established italian artists such as Colle Der Fomento, Frankie Hi Energie, Senigallia, Assalti Frontali and many more.
He's also into OST as producer, and he's the founder of La Batteria band.  If not enough already, he has been into the Red Bull Music Academy for the last 15 years.  Enjoy.

Musicista, produttore, batterista, dj, digger, conduttore radiofonico e giornalista, David Nerattini è nato a Roma nel 1969. 
Attivo fin dalla metà degli anni '80, ha fondato insieme a Riccardo Sinigallia la band 6 Suoi Ex, è stato componente del progetto La Comitiva (con Sinigallia, Ice One, Francesco Zampaglione e Dj Stile) ed ha prodotto brani per Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, Frankie Hi-NRG MC. Cor Veleno, Flaminio Maphia, Colle Der Fomento (il singolo "Sergio Leone"), Papa Ricky, Raf, Assalti Frontali, Chef Ragoo, Ghemon, Amir, Supremo73 e Matthew Marston. Ha inoltre collaborato e suonato con Franco Califano, Tiromancino, Angela Baraldi, Massimo Nunzi, Dj Gruff, Niccolò Fabi, Max Gazzé e Daniele Silvestri. 
Dalla metà degli anni 90 si occupa di colonne sonore per il cinema (“Zora La Vampira” dei Manetti Bros, “Piccoli Crimini Coniugali” di Alex Infascelli) e la tv, dal 2008 al 2019 è stato direttore artistico, produttore e compositore per la Flipper Music, il principale editore di sonorizzazioni in Italia, per il quale ha realizzato un buon numero di album di library music. Nel 2013 ha fondato la band La Batteria, con Paolo Pecorelli, Stefano Vicarelli ed Emanuele Bultrini.
Come dj ha iniziato giovanissimo nei primi anni '80 lavorando come resident nei più importanti club dell'isola di Santorini (Grecia) come l'Enigma e il Casablanca, nei 90/00 ha invece animato le serate romane in club come La Vetrina, il Locale e il Metaverso e più recentemente ha aperto con i suoi dj set di sola musica italiana per gente come Madlib, J-Rocc e Cut Chemist. 
Come giornalista ha scritto per Ciao 2001, Music, Fare Musica, Rockstar, Musica Jazz, Dance Music Magazine, Aelle, Groove e nel 2003 ha fondato con Silvia Volpato la rivista Superfly. Come conduttore ed ideatore di programmi radio ha lavorato per Radio Rai ("Planet Rock"), Radio Città Futura e Radio Rock.
Dal 2004 al 2019 è stato parte del team della Red Bull Music Academy e per 15 anni ha condotto un radio show chiamato Extrafly su Red Bull Radio, attualmente trasmette ogni lunedì alle 21 su Radio Elettrica.

Slow Fire Disco Machine is the alias behind Andrea Carassai and Giacomo Fiorani. Their friendship behind the decks started as Polyphonic, then became quickly something different giving birth to Slow Fire Disco Machine, an entity exploring sounds from the world with no restriction of genre, with eyes (and ears) to groove and good vibes.
When they're not digging or djing, SFDM runs a YouTube Channel where  they upload their finds  & edits.
They also curate the "Espresso"  monthly show on Rocket Radio Milano, where they often invite friends from all over the world
