The first sentence of Cara's (Cardboard Lamb) self-written description of the newest entry in the AstroFM series summarizes it perfectly for me: "Language exists on multiple levels.".  We all know what it feels like to hear someone speaking a language we don't understand. The natural process of trying to contextualize and understand what someone is saying fades away and all we hear, if we choose to keep listening, is the sound. In this train of thought, how do we distinguish speech from music? We'd say it's the finest of lines, on which we hear Cardboard Lamb walking for AstroFM number 132. 

Originally created for an exhibition entitled HYDRA, presented by Phil Proctor, Earnest Studios and Tom Chung this year at Dutch Design Week. Cara wrote the following:

"Language exists on multiple levels. The post-structuralist project classified it into text (the signifier) and meaning (the signified). There is something missing from this dynamic: the beauty of its sound. Using reworked recordings of friends reciting poetry in their mother tongues, this mix aims to oscillate between several modes of listening and to explore language as music."

Theory aside, this piece will make even the most multi-lingual listeners dream away. We hope you do too.
